When do you replace the chain on a 3-PT. snowblower?

Thanks for the info, so half link is the type of chain. The master link is to join regular chain together. I make my own chainsaw chains so I'm familiar with the preset links and tie straps but I haven't had to play with the chain on my blowers yet except for lubing.

regular chain would be similar to chain saw chain but I guess the half links would be a little different.

I know if it wasn't for the internet I wouldn't have attempted most of the stuff I have fixed or maintained. Kudos to all you older guys who have learned all this stuff on your own in the pre internet era.

When you run out of adjustment and the sprockets are starting to round over on the teeth.

Never replaced mine but it gets oiled after every use. I use motorcycle chain lube.

Replace when the chain breaks and becomes lost in the snow. :)

I keep basic roller chain, master links and half links on hand for emergencies, saved me numerous times when a chain breaks or the master link keeper flies off and comes apart.

Parts are cheap and chain easy to work with.
