Re: Where is these Tractors built?

Me thinks you need to take a look at who runs the Deere plants in France and Germany. I bet you that you will not find very many American names for plant management,or engineering. These tractors are adapted for sale in North America, not built that way to begin with. Same thing with the Mexican plant, and the joint-ventures with LT in India,Tianjin in China, and Hattat in Turkey locals run them not suits from Moline.

All of us tightwads trying to save a buck is what is sending our jobs to 3rd world countries...cheaper labor

We can't depend on a "service" economy, we need manufacturing to stay here for so many important reasons I can't list them all...Kyle

Myself I think NAFTA is killing this country when it comes to jobs leaving here for a cheap wage in another country.

Re: Where is these Tractors built?

Come on woodbeef enough. I personally know alot of these guys that do run the production in these foreign plants. They are gone alot implementing designs and overseeing production. All of the tractors are designed and engineered to JD specs. They are not some third world country's design and engineering that deere slapped their name on.

Re: Where is these Tractors built?

Whats the purpose of Unions anymore? If a person is good at what they do and are not lazy why would they want or need a union?

And saying that they would be taken advantage of by their company is not an acceptable answer.

A little of the subject /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Unions when done right can produce good results. But I have yet to find a "good" union. One of the big problems in the south is safety and training. I'm a crane operator (90% non-union) and have seen my share of bad working conditions. Union jobs that I have been on had better trained people and safe equipment about 50% of the time.

No one ever gets fired for being safe on most union jobs. On the other hand I have been fired from non-union jobs because I refused to do things that would put people or equipment in danger. You will not see my crane overturned. Union crane operators are not always better, but for the most part they do recieve more training and are more likely to be safe in my experiance.

The problem with my local union is they charge too much and there is way to much of a good ole boy system. I would be a member if they made all operators meet the same level regardless of who they are related to or who they drink with. We need something more like the old Guilds, not enough trade (construction) skills are being taught to the new generations.

My 2 cents.

Re: Where is these Tractors built?

Some of the new Cub Cadets are made by Diahatsu (spelling?), I think Diahatsu is Korean. Many of the Cub Cadets are made by Mitsubishi and are of high quality. I have no complaints with mine. John Deeres are made by Yanmar and New Hollands are made by Shibaura (or at least they used to be). The Case-IH DX series are similar to the New Hollands. Last news I got was that New Holland and Case-IH had merged. Kubotas are made in Japan and make their own engines.
Hope this helps. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

EXACTLY. That's why union membership stalled. I come from a family of coal miners. Unions definitely helped their workplace safety. That was in the 40's and 50's. Since then, look around at industries that deal with labor unions ... steel, auto, textile, coal, airline... should I go on? Those industries are upside down. The only ones making money are the union bosses, period. To those thinking of joining a union, remember this... a union CAN NOT get you what a company is not willing to give you. Unless, of course, the union owns the company.
