rocks ? No problem for the wicked to dig up

Wicked !! There's No substitute for quality ! Guaranteed..... And, made right here in the USA !

Please read my entire post #1: "I have absolutely zero rocks in my area".

Why would I need a "wicked grapple"?
To dig up rocks that do not exist,.... at any depth?

I cannot imagine digging rocks with a grapple.
I use my Kubota 11' reach backhoe with hydraulic thumb, for my digging.

I like EA stuff!
A 66" EA root grapple is $3400, and is not built with a tine design that would fit my very specific use.
So.....I should buy that one anyway,..... just because it is made in the USA?

There are a number of grapple builders in the USA.

Have you bought any electronics, appliances, cars, car parts, tires, etc., made by a foreign manufacturer?
It would seem that you should never be buying such things.

Never said you had rocks...I was just showing how tough it is by showing the rocks.

Never said I didn't buy other things made in other countries. In a lot of cases, there is no way around that. I will buy made in the USA when I have a choice.

Sorry you can't understand my post.

I really don't care what you buy. You are the one that asked which grapple to buy

To the OP. Do you think something like this would work? 6" Grapple Bucket Skid Steer Loader

Thanks for the suggestion.
I do think that would work best for not damaging the holly and beach plum branches.
I do not think it would work well for snagging and holding the vines though.
I think the vines would be somewhat likely to slip off the round tines.

So far,..... the MS/SD type with 11" spacing, seems as though it would be best for my specific task.
RIP OUT bittersweet !!!
EVERYWHERE possible !!!

I bought the land pride sgc 1072 it's 450lbs and I love it on my mx5200. I use it for pulling up privet and raking up sticks and piles of cut trees.

Your Land Pride certainly does look like a very nice grapple.

The problem for me though would be the tooth design.
I need the longest teeth possible, and spaced much wider than those appear to be.

I need to reach into trees/bushes to hook/snag the bittersweet vines, yet keep the actual damage to the trees/bushes to a minimum.
I am thinking longest possible teeth, with tooth spacing at 11" or slightly more.
Any more closely spaced teeth will likely pull/break off branches of the trees/bushes themselves.
It would be nearly impossible for me to grab the bittersweet at ground level, but I can grab it much higher on the tree/bush, where it is actually weaving it's choking vines up through the tree/bush.

If I can snag the vines, curl up or down, and pull up, some will break off, but when the ground is moist, most vines will cleanly rip out.
Getting rid of bittersweet (like kudzu) is a reoccurring problem.
It will eventually grow back, and need to be ripped out again.

I think you need a danuser puller or maybe just use the thumb. I’ve never seen a grapple that worked good for pulling brush. My Favor has long teeth spaced pretty far apart. IMG_7685.JPG

I think the application is a first for me and I think a very creative use of a tractor and grapple. I'd be in there crawling around with a lopper
getting all ripped up and Fried is sitting in his cab listening to his stereo...:D Now whether he can get the grip he needs with the least collateral damage,
I think I'd experiment with some pitch forks of varying tine size first. If one was a serious welder you could custom fab to your own exact spec, perhaps reducing an oem too large size down to your exact width, some kind of quick attach overlay perhaps if you can't find what you want.

You are SO RIGHT!
I have done exactly that,...... more than a few times!
It is absolutely miserable, and I am too old for that shxt!

I will find a better way!

The Danuser puller appears to be primarily for single stalk growth.
That would not work for my application.
The thumb/bucket is not nearly wide enough to grab many vines, and reaching in with the hoe bucket seems as though it would do a lot of branch damage.

The bittersweet grows as a tangled mass of vines with multiple pieces that are individually rooted.
I need to snag the tangled vines at 6' or 8' above the ground, and try to pull up, and out.

The bottom tooth design of your Faver is exactly what I want.
I think I want a full width single lid top though, instead of the two separate lids as on the Faver.

If it’s a tangled enough mess it might work but I’ve never had much luck pulling brush with a grapple. There’s just not much pinch and they slip through. The Danuser is a very effective tool. It’ll grab a mess 2’ wide rip it out. It’s a pretty expensive trial run though. If you can manage to get one for a trial run I’d highly recommend giving it a try.

Lots of valuable discussion here.
I very much appreciate it.

If you change your mind and want to try 4570 Man's Idea, here is a cheaper, but not as nice alternative to the Danuser. Heavy Duty Tree and Post Puller - Skid Steer Attachment Depot
It looks like a unit made, but no longer listed by MS Attach.

I really enjoy encouraging others to spend money. It's more rewarding to me than spending my own.:D

this is for anyone who doesn't know what bittersweet is.
found a small patch at my brother's home in VA. They seek it out for xmas decorations.
Fried, you need to sell this stuff!
definitely an invasive vine

Thank you Daugen!

That picture explains the basics of what I am trying to deal with.
That is just bittersweet growing in it's own tangled mess though.

Now try to imagine that vine mess growing up through a holly tree or a bush.
The vines climb out through the top of the tree, and the sides as well, and the host tree/bush eventually dies.

There is no reasonable way to grab or cut the vines at the bottom, without damaging the tree/bush itself, and there are way too many small individual vines to make any sort of puller practical.
I think the only way that I can grab them/rip them out, is by reaching up in the tree/bush, and pulling on them with a wide single lid grapple.

I sure do wish I could sell the daxx stuff, but I would still need to somehow get it out of the trees/bushes!

My bittersweet has way more berries than that shown in your picture.
Perhaps you might like your very own crop, instead of that scrawny looking stuff at your brother's place.
Would you like me to send you a few thousand very robust seeds?
I will even pay the postage.

George
