I feel sad for you people that that are so concerned for your safety that
you have to carry a firearm
It is a sad state of affairs that this is necessary in a free country
Thank God I live in Canada

I do not believe in gun control which is on the way out
but most people still have enough respect for others and the law
True...most people do have enough respect for others...the firearm is for those few who don't.
By your post, I think you have the impression that it's the Old West with folks walking around with a big ol' sixgun on their hip...that's not so.
If you walked down the street past me, you'd just see a mild mannered middle-aged guy...most likely wearing jeans or khaki trousers with a mid weight jacket (this time of year). You'd have no idea I'd have a 9mm pistol, a .380 pistol or a .38 snubby revolver on me (normally 2 of the handguns listed).
Same kind of guy you'd see walking down a street in Ottawa or Calgary...
