Sorry here but as I understand it, Mr Obama has done quite the opposite. I believe he signed an agreement with Mexico that about illegals that tied INS's hands by not being able to deportment them unless they are problem here. Might do well to check into this before election time. Just saying

You are quite mistaken. Check the constitution. All foreign treaties have to be ratified by the Senate. Maybe you are thinking about the recent implementation of NAFTA that allows Mexican trucks on US highways? I think that was already ratified, but had to get past the NTSB.

In exchange, Mexico dropped heavy tariffs on American agricultural produce. That was a handshake agreement, but before anything gets "signed" it has to pass the Senate, and the Senate isn't passing anything nowadays.

You assume that Obama dud it in the firm of a treaty. He has tried to stretch every limit of executive authority possible.

Off to the north country tomorrow morning in hopes of filling my last 2 permits.

44 magnum this time. 240 grain FMJ's and I'll have my 45-410 in my pocket as well.

Ordered a Savage 111 Long Range Hunter in .338 Lapua for the anticipated Elk hunt next year.....

Now I have scope decisions. I have a Leupold 6.5 x 30 VX4 EFR fine duplex that I may mount but it could be a Zeiss.

Gonna be handloads. Factory .338's are outta sight.

The Michigan Attorney General changed the muffler law yesterday. Mufflers are legal on handguns and rifles instead of a 5 year felony.

Guess I'll have to go to Midas.....:)

Do you mean a silencer? Still a federal law on that...so you'll need the BATF tax stamp.

5030,

It's an election year and there could be a couple more things the liars and thieves give us to try to stay in office. National Concealed Carry passed and is headed to the Senate. Hopefully this will pass for the people.

About your post, how wrong was it to begin with when the law goes from a felony with 5 years to legal to own and carry? Absolutely the best example of government stupidity. I applaud the Attorney General in your state for this work.

Yesterday, I heard on the news that south of Pittsburgh in Washington County a burglar broke into a home in the middle of the night. The couple was sleeping, but he homeowner had a gun in the bedroom. He was confronted aggressively by the crook, and shot him once, killing him in the house. This kind of stuff needs to make national headlines so the other thieves, liars and crooks understand that when break into someone's home they might meet a belly full of buckshot or 8 rounds from a 45 auto.

8 rounds from a 45 auto.

Not criticising, but considering a .45's stopping power....
How do you get 8 rounds from .45 in someone?? wife gonna hold him up??

The last 7 would be in the floor, which might be hard to explain.

Tax stamp on silencer is$200.00 Per...

Yeah, but thinking about it...if 5030 has a silencer, he probably did that paperwork when he bought it.

There's no getting around the $200 federal tax stamp though. Silencers or SBR's, got to pay to play.

Please educate me. What is the legitimate use for a silencer by a sport shooter, hunter or for personal protection? I can easily understand the value to a criminal or assassin.

Island....I am thinking one of the best ways to market a product and boost sales is to tell folks they can't have it without paying a premium and jumping through some hoops ...then folks who have absolutely no real use for the product all of a sudden have an insatiable desire to possess it and will pay the fee just to have one...Just a thought but I agree with you ...Assassins and criminals could use one but I can think of no reason a law abiding citizen would have a use for a silencer...

Island Tractor,
great question! At the range, having a silencer is less disturbing to other participants. In rural areas where you can shoot outdoors on your property the same thing applies. For defense in the home the same thing applies. The thugs, thieves and murders can and do get them illegally. Do you have an objection to law abiding, tax paying citizens being able to own and use them?

Folks who do a lot of shooting, if they don't want substantial hearing loss, must wear hearing protection of some kind...either ear plugs, ear muffs or both. I would be willing to try a "muffler" as an alternative. Bystanders, if in the area of the muzzle blast, can have significant hearing loss after even one incident.

This is the most dangerous question regarding the 2nd Amendment - "I can think of no reason a law abiding citizen would have a use for a _________"

Ask the folks in the UK or Australia what happens when . . . . . .

I can think of no reason a law abiding citizen would have a use for a Semi Auto Rifle?

I can think of no reason a law abiding citizen would have a use for a Semi Auto Shotgun?

I can think of no reason a law abiding citizen would have a use for a Semi Auto Pistol.

I can think of no reason a law abiding citizen would have a use for a ANY Handgun?

I can think of no reason a law abiding citizen would have a use for a ANY FIREARM?

I wondered about that but thought everyone at a range wears hearing protection anyway (except Ted Nugent).

Do I recall correctly that one of the things that happens with a silencer is that the bullet velocity is cut dramatically? Am I right? If so doesn't that diminish stopping power?

Seems very silly for defense in the home. Are you really worried about one or two shots once in a lifetime? The silencer would make the gun more awkward to handle so might defeat the primary purpose.

By the way, I don't have any objection to law abiding citizens owning them. I just wonder if you have to be an over the top gun weenie to want one badly enough to pay a few hundred bucks to have one. Really, I understand gizmos and sometimes you just gotta have one but I just wanted to know if there was a more practical reason. (By the way, that's a lot of beer money, I'd sit down and imagine the pleasure I'd get from 15-20 cases of Becks or Pilsner Urquel:licking: waiting for me in my garage before I blew that sort of money on a gadget I'd probably use twice and then stick in a drawer). But if having a silencer rocks your boat and you are not an assassin or highwayman then go for it!
