City of Seattle has mandated $15 minimum wage. Implemented in a series of steps over 3 years IANM. First step increase was 1 April.

Bet the dollar menu at McDs there disappears...

Its because people are afraid of nuclear power.

Would you like to live in Chernobil, Nagasaki, Iroshima, Fukushima, or for the matter a fact anywhere near those time bombs? What about ocean pollution, just about all heavily contaminated by nuclear waste. Say no to ****, and start thinking out of the box!

I live off grid, and I can say that solar panels are a better alternative to wind mills. No outrageous eyesores, no noise and no light flickering. Easy to maintain and erect. The biggest plus for the wind mill, is that (wind provided) they produce power 24/24hr.

My suggestion: free energy! Tesla was the true pioneer in its field and has been eliminated, as so many "unknown" free energy inventors. Free Energy if for the good for All Humanity folks. Gear yourself, as we are not far from reaching a true comeback. Freedom from tyrany will prevail!:cool2:

I live and work within 50 miles of a nuclear power plant, I have friends who work there (and at other plants), I have family who work in the nuclear power industry.
Not really worried about it.

Keep living in that vacuum. Know anybody who has one? They will tell you. I am not exactly sure of the numbers but this company has a list of $14M per unit plus installation costs. I do not know of any turbine that can produce $14M worth of electricity in a year.
Enercon E-126 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I'm beginning to see your issue; you can't read well enough to escape your vacuum.

Energy payback in a life cycle analysis is not how much power is produced versus the sales cost of the turbine. It is how long does it take to generate as much power as was needed to build and install the turbine.

In a country that thinks high schoolers should get paid $8+ per hour to flip burgers of an evening at McDs, it's no wonder they wouldn't want to.

Child Labour!

With dry cask storage proposed to replace the pools, the entire present campus is proposed to be a "security area.

Your views are myopic. 250 years is OK with you? Who's kids get to deal with the responsibility all those generations. They will curse us all for being so stupid as to create such a waste and then run off and die before we take care of our own foolish mess. Greed and ego. they will say. Stealing from the unborn.
Low level exposure? I can add, and it all adds up. Skin cancer runs deep in my family. All ionizing radiation has the ability to alter any cell during it's division. Please take this "extra burden" to your place. It doesn't seem to bother you. I have to ask why I should accept it.

Oh Well, some people just have to have their electricity. 24/7/365. Me? Not so much. (as long as I get a hot shower before things start getting raunchy! ;-)

Cal . You seem to have no problems with uncontained lead, cadmium, Mercury, aersnic, asbestosis , PCB', dioxans and furans. Radiation can be found instantly with a frisker. The toxins I listed need actual sick people to motivate lab sampling after the fact.
The used fuel is not waste. It's energy for the next generation of reactors .
If you don't like a couple of acres of cordoned off no access areas . I suggest you avoid military bases, old refineries, dumps, mines, quarries , abandoned towns, old farm sheds etc. should I mention oil and gas wells that penetrate fresh water aquafers to obtain the petroleum underneath?

Well, if you take .11 cents per KWh times 2000 (that's 2 Megawatts) = $220 per hour times 24 hours = $5280 per day times 365 days per year = $1,927,200 per year divided by 4 (we'll give it a generous 25% of time that it actually generates at rated power; we suspect much less) = $481,800 dollars per year in electricity. So, 6-8 years it pays for itself and the next 12-15 years is free money - minus maintenance/repairs, of course. Now tack on the generous tax incentives and you've got a real money-maker there.

Don't forget the revenues from the carbon credits. We have oil companies here that own wind turbines for a reason.

Your country side is going to get crowded and noisy when everybody moves from the city to have enough room to live off the grid.

At any time I drive by a wind farm, half the turbines aren't spinning. I assume because of noise complaints, or because of breakdowns, or bird migrations.

There is always a danger in assuming things. I live with a 195 unit wind farm in my back yard (my yard isn't really that large
) The main reason they don't spin is when the wind is not blowing, occasionally it is too strong, one unit at a time is shut down for maintenance, once in a while blade are removed and repaired/replaced. A good deal of the time they are all or nearly all in operation. In the 9 years this system has been on line, I am not aware of any of them being shut down due to noise or bird migration.

Lots of valid information out there if you want to find it.
