Your towing rigs and trailers

Finally let my wife talk me into a newer truck. I've been a die-hard 7.3 diesel Superduty fan for years, and hated to give up on my 'main' truck being anything but that. But rust has destroyed much of my fleet, and based on good reports from friends who own and work (hard!) some of the newer 6.2l gas motor Superduty trucks, that's the direction we went. As of yesterday, we now have a 2016 F250 crew cab shortbed, 4x4, 6.2l gas motor, XL base model with only power windows/locks and cruise control added. Shows nearly 68k miles on the odometer, has some damage to the bed corners near the tail lights, but it will suit me fine.

I'm hoping my gooseneck hitch from my '99 F250 will fit and be swapped over.

Nice looking rig. Too bad it didn't have the puck system. Having that in my ram has been a very nice improvement over the traditional styles

Puck system? Please explain... never heard of it.

On Ram HD models you can get them with the hitch base components factory installed under the bed with 5 holes in the bed floor. You remove a plastic cover and the 5th wheel puck-compatible hitch drops right in. That way when you remove the hitch the bed floor is flat with no hitch frame obstructions. The 5th hole is for kingpin ball style. You have to buy the right style 5th wheel hitch, obviously, but it's a great system.

Here's an example hitch that works with the puck system:

Yes and most manufacturers now (less Toyota?) has it available now. I found when truck shopping it was a rare add on for super duty's on lots.

B&W has made a flush mount gooseneck hitch for a long time. My dad has had one since it was new in his 2002 truck. They make a 5th wheel hitch that drops in the same hole on the bed. I’ve always the hitches that have rails across the bed were ridiculous. IMG_8924.JPGIMG_8925.JPG

Yeah. They tend to be the popular choice and I haven't been able to figure out why. Good looking product, seems to work fine(handle operation was never smooth in 2 different trucks for me) but does not hold up in Ohio. Cheap paint them must use. Every truck I see(and owned) the b&w are rusted to the frame in 4 years. The paint color is always the dead giveaway, other brands are black and never seem to look bad at all.

I have a DrawTite gooseneck hitch in my 1999 Superduty, and since the beds will interchange, I'm hoping the frame on my 2016 will be similar enough that the hitch will fit with few minor modifications. It is the B&W style turnover ball type, that is mostly flush with the bed floor.
