JD3120 John Deere
Tractor Fine; Corporate Service Lacks
Model Year: 2007

This tractor has been working fine for years. In March, the battery went dead. Got a new one and it died in 4 months. Display shows error message shrt_1. Dealer has "no clue" what this means. It's in none of the documentation. I contacted corporate support. They said, call the dealer. I asked corp. to submit the question to engineering. Reply: "contact dealer". This message means something, could be indicator of bigger problem, corporate totally irresponsible.

Pros: Corp. support = zero.
Cons: Dealer support = great.

JD3120 John Deere
Great Tractor For The Size
Model Year: 2007

I use my JD 3120 to raise fruits and vegetables for a 20 member CSA farm and farmer's market sales. I bought a front loader with bucket and forks and used the tractor to help build my timber frame house.

Pros: Hydro transmission, 4WD.
Cons: Of course, wish I had bought a size or two bigger.

JD 3120 Compact FWD
Model Year: 2005

Has been outstanding tractor. Purchased new. Only wish would be if it had larger and wider front tires. Sometimes sinks in the mud when doing loader work.

Pros: Good on fuel.
Cons: Front wheels need be wider and larger.

JD3120 John Deere
So Far, So Good
Model Year: 2006

Bought this tractor used about a month ago, replacing a John Deere 755. It has nine more horsepower and is about 1000 lbs. heavier. For me, it's a big step-up. Things I like: wide comfy seat with about ten inches of up-down travel; built-in tool box on left fender; a quick detach front loader and 7-iron belly mower; tilt steering wheel; a grab bar parking brake; speedometer; and large fuel tank. Nicest surprise is the stabilizer bars on lower 3 pt. hitch arms---easy to use and very useful. Top hydro transmission range is geared a tad too high.

Pros: Very comfortable. Adequate power (for my uses).
Cons: Burns more fuel. Roll bar higher (but may be folded).

3120 Experience
Model Year: 2007

Have rebuilt the steering tilt assy 2 times and is ready for another rebuild. Also the throttle slowly drops rpm's when it is running. I use a tarp strap to hold it wide open for mowing. I had a Deere prior to this and found they moved the hydro pedals to another location that is not comfortable to me. Nice finish and ample power for my 72" mower. Will not be buying another one. I have purchased 6 Deere tractors since 1999 (all sizes) & have had my share of problems with them all. They at one time could not be beat, they have certifiably cut quality.

Pros: Good hyd. and fit and finish.
Cons: Tilt steering, throttle assy, all electronic controlled engine.

JD3120 John Deere
2007 John Deere 3120 Tractor-Loader-Backhoe-60" Mid Mower
Model Year: 2007

This is a review of my 07 JD 3120. Overall its a great machine. Mine has the 300cx loader with 73" HD bucket, 447 backhoe with a 16" bucket, the larger R4 tires and 60" 7 iron mid mower. The tractor always starts right up even when real cold. Don't like how it jumps to a real high idle right off the bat being stone cold. It does that until warmed up. The loader picks up a ton of weight, but I have had a problem getting the bucket cutting edge level. The backhoe works great and I love the curved boom over the 48 hoe on my old JD 4300. The bucket capacity on the 447 hoe is quite a bit less than the 448 at least bucket depth wise. The mower cuts great. I put it on at a later date. The dealer and I set it up and it mowed like a golf course mower. After taking it on and off a bunch of times I can't get it set back to the same cut but it still cuts great. For the size of this machine and it's about the furthest thing away from a dedicated lawn mower-it really does a great job! Wet ground still can be a challenge because of the weight in terms of scarring up the yard. The flaws I've experienced are: low fuel light will come on sometimes for no reason, tilt steering wheel won't stay locked in one place, both front axle seals and 1 backhoe swing cylinder leak a little, and it is a little underpowered. I notice this the most when running my 5' JD 513 brush hog. JD discontinued the 3120 probably because there were 4 identical models with a slight bump in hp each step. The 35 and 37s had turbos. I am old school and loved my 4300 without all the electronic mumbo jumbo. I couldn't find a mid PTO kit for it so I could mow grass so I bought this. It's a great machine, a few little flaws but no biggie.

Pros: Ease of use, control layout, it's a John Deere what else needs said.
Cons: Not cheap, a few flaws, slightly underpowered.

JD3120 John Deere
JD 3120
Model Year: 2008

I have been really satisfied with this tractor. I use the following implements: Box blade, seed spreader, tiller, post hole digger, back hoe, landscape rake and I have the HD front loader. The only reason I rated performance a 4 is because I could use a little more power for what i use it for, but there are other models that have more power. The front loader is very powerful and fast, even at low rpm. This is my second JD and if I upgrade, it will be another JD for sure.

Pros: Durability, reliability and ease of operation.
Cons: None. Switched to gel battery for longer life.

JD3120 John Deere
07 John Deere 3120-300CX, 447 backhoe, 60" 7-iron mid mower
Model Year: 2007

I bought this tractor used from my dad who bought it new in 2007. I previously had a 2000 JD 4300, 2002 JD 4310, 2005 Kubota L2800 and my first compact a 2004 JD 2210. So far I like it, don't really notice the lesser hp of my 4300. I love the looks compared to the older models it replaced. Not impressed with all the "China" cast into all the loader parts. The dealer put the loader masts on wrong and my dad never noticed. Cutting edge of bucket won't sit flat on level concrete. Axle seals leak a little and not happy about sand still on the axle knuckle casting from the casting process. The 447 backhoe seems to have around the same power as my 48 hoe on my old 4300 and 4310 but won't dig as deep. 1 swing cylinder on hoe leaked and was replaced under warranty, now the other one leaks and no more warranty. I hated the original E-hydros, but this one is much better than when they first came out. Loader and hoe come off in minutes, mower takes longer and tons more wrestling to get off but cuts excellent! The dealer sold me a new old stock deck for about a quarter of the price of an auto connect. When I bought it from my dad it had ag tires, I sold them and bought the big R4s, mower deck and the fancy brush guard which is a rip off for all the more you get. It seems pretty good so far, hope it holds up like my old 4300 (almost 1,000 hrs on it). The backhoe cylinders are smaller in diameter, but I am guessing that is because it is the smaller model of what I had. Bigger fuel tank is nice also. It is a little more difficult to see whats going on in front of you when using the loader because it sits up quite a bit higher. I will update this review the more hours I put on it. I got a heck of a deal on it so I can live without the horsepower, but John Deere's should never have anything on them from China. Its just not right.

Pros: The price I paid, it's pretty and capable, comfortable, mows great!
Cons: Workmanship, cock-eyed loader, and leaky axle seals.
