Lots of really good information to consider while deciding on what to get. I researched the heck out of this when I decided to trade "up" from my
BX2200. After hours on forums and Internet sites as well as looking at brochures, I decided the B2920 was THE tractor and sold my BX2200 to my son in law. I then began going to dealers and looking at all of the tractors and that is when I made the discovery that the BX2660 was better for my needs than a B for MY use which does not include snow removal as we rarely get any here.

However, given the parameters of the original poster, I would choose a B over the BX for all of the reasons mentioned such as ground clearance as he did not indicate any steep terrain and the clearance will help in snow. I have used mine to clear snow the few times we have had significant accumulations and while the BX will work, I am convinced a bigger tractor will work better.

My primary reason for buying the BX2660 was because it is used 80% for mowing and because I also have a 60 and 80 HP with FEL at one of our other farms 4 miles away for the heavier stuff and one has a heated/AC cab; can't beat that.

I agree with everyone else on the FEL as I will use mine about every week and until you have one, you simply cannot appreciate how handy they are especially as you get older. Heck I use mine to carry a sack of corn out to the feeder; funny how much heavier 50 lbs is than it use to be; oh and you don't get younger, so don't laugh.

I got a B3030HSDC 3 years ago and I'll tell you, after years w/ a rear mount blower and no cab, I'm in heaven now!!! A have r4's and was looking to get a set of Ag tires but I finally loaded the r4's w/ RimGuard this summer: it feels and operates like a completely different machine. Much more stable and highly improved traction. For the snow you'll get where you are and that much road, I would not considered anything less than a B series.

Greetings. First post - excellent forums here; I have learned a ton already. I will soon be buying a new Kubota tractor, my first ever tractor, and am hoping to mine some expertise from those who have been through the process. Until a few days ago, my knowledge of tractors was near zero.

I need a tractor for the nearly sole purpose of snow removal. I have a place in the snowbelt of northern MI with 1/2 mile of driveway/private road to clear. I believe a Kubota compact with the front blower attachment will suit my purposes, and the Kubota 0% financing offer is nice. I have it narrowed down to the BX1860 or BX2360, but will probably end up going with the 2360, as there is not a great price diff. If I can scrape up the coin, I would like to get the Curtis hard cab too, as the dealer will install for free.

My likely configuration for the 2360 (or 1860) is: bar tires, front snowblower (with hydraulic chute rotator & electric chute deflector), quick hitch sub frame, mid PTO. If I get the Curtis hard cab, I would get the usual options like heater, defrost, wipers, etc. I am also considering a rear blade.

I would be grateful for any suggestions/advice regarding my prospective purchase; such as; what "throw-ins" should I try for (service or otherwise), options, things I should look our for, etc. Also what percentage less than MSRP (retail) should I be able to negotiate in the Kubota world?

Thanks!

First Tractor? Always go bigger than initially comes to mind. Small tractors are nice and I have a BX, but wish I had gone bigger from the get go. Good luck with your purchase.

Get the FEL, like others have said, you can't live without. I have a blade and a FEL. I think plowing the snow with an FEL is just terible. It works good for moving piles of snow but is awfull for plowing. That said, I would still take a FEL over a rear blade if I could only have one. Keep your eyes open for a used blade on Tractor House or Craigslist. It seem SCUT items are hard to find but they do show up. A rear blade costs alot less than a FEL, maybe as much a 5 times less.

UPDATE:

I did end up getting the B2320 w/ FEL, snowblower, and a front blade. Unfortunately, I have been so busy with other projects that I haven't had a chance to use it much yet. Hope to get some seat time in the coming weeks and snap a few photos too. Thanks again for all of the great suggestions. Now I can graduate to the owner's section :)

Congratulations on your new tractor, it should provide very good servoce and of course lots of fun. It's funny, when I was growing up on a farm, I couldn't wait to grow up and get away and now some of my most enjoyable and satisfying time is spent on a tractor.

+1 on the congratulations. You will find it a very useful tool, kind of like a good friend, always there when you need it.

It's funny, I too would have been voted the least likely in my large family to want tractors, but I'm now the one with the most land, and not enough tractors. I guess I always liked the field work, and getting the wood in, etc., but I was less happy about cattle running my young life.... :D I do enjoy both my land, and the tools I need / want to really enjoy it these days, and I expect our new tractor owner will too!

X2 on the cattle, Black Angus chasing before and after school, fence building and hauling hay every day of the week from another barn down the road during the winter; surprised I am not a vegetarian. I DO NOT own any cattle now and never will; gotta go lie down now, feeling kind of dizzy...

We had a small herd of dairy cows so they required a bit more, milking time sure came before being on the football team!
