I had a boat with about 150 gallons in the bilge of a pleasure boat. We got called (I'm a firefighter) to a lake where the boat owner walked away from his boat while refueling, but did not know that the filler tube was rotted off, so the fuel went into the boat itself. The fool wanted to siphon it back into 5 gallon cans, put it in the bed of his pickup and drive home and strain it later. You can guess what we said about that!
He had to call a commercial company that handles hazardous waste spills like this. The crew that came out said that products like this to recyclers that blend it with marine diesel fuel, old paint thinner, some paints, etc and it gets used in the large marine cargo vessels after they have exited US territorial waters (12 miles?? off shore).
The guy got quite a bill for the disposal, had to pay the marina for the fuel and his boat was a mess. All over a $10 piece of rubber hose that rotted off.
