Another thing you might look at is a product called "Start" made by the company which makes Stabil. Start your engines - fuel system revitalizer

Geez, your full of great info, Cyril.
Where were you when I started this thread?

This stuff wouldn't have worked for the Vette though, says for small engines.

Another question.........When premium gas goes bad, is it worse that bad regular gas?

I was here, but what can I say...
...I'm slow sometimes.

Actually, it wasn't until I read about the PRI-G and started responding about it and Stabil that it occured to me about Start. The owner of my local NAPA store told me about Start earlier this year when I was working on getting some older equipment back up and running. Generator, tiller, etc. It seems to work well. Granted, I had to pull and flush the tanks on this equipment and added the Start to the new fuel, but my tiller which has never run right since I got it started running perfect after about 5 minutes of use. Note that the tiller had sat for about 7 years since the last time I tried to get it running.

OK, going to take a stab at this, but I may be way off base so take this with a grain of salt.

Premium gas (higher octane) is less flamable than reguar gas. I would think that if old gas becomes less flamable then premium would be worse than regular over the same time span?

Man I can't type straight today. Lots of spelling corrections today (reversed letters).

The reason, as I understand it, that premium gas needs to be used in older vehicles is that the higher flamable gasolines of today ignite from pressure before the spark plug has fired (pre-ignition ping) when used in the older higher compression engines. Higher octane fuel or octane booster is used to ****** the flamability of the fuel to eliminate the pre-combustion and eliminating the problem.

Have you considered trying Pri-G? I've never tried it but heard good things about it. It claims to make old gas like new again.

PRI Advanced Fuel Treatments
:confused2: For the cost of a tank of gas you can restore a bunch of tanks of gas. ... b.b.but, how much do you have? What may be great if you have a lot of neglected cars, is not such a bargain in the case of sporadic need. There is an always fresh product on the market to serve the rare and incidental need [you have to use more, but its much cheaper and you end up with more gas]. For most of us this is a great opportunity to help others get rich.

An excellent explanation, I had no idea.
