Feedback on JCB MIDI and M59

Mark,
Sounds like a plan to me, the M59 should be a great machine. Back in 2005 I paid $7600 for the Laurin cab and added the Hammond ac kit to it for another 1900. So about $9500 total, this should help you get an idea of what to pay today.

Having a 4520 cab and the 110 Laurin cab I think from a utiltarian standpoint the Laurin has more room and is every bit as good where it matters. I can also say that having a cabbed tlb is a great way to go.

Either way I think your happy M59 is a really good machine. I'm looking for a compact TLB right now but I'm pretty well limited to a 110 because of my budget or I'd be looking for an M59

Thanks but remember the primary goal was to save the use of my 6 bobcat attachments so I need the flow - the smaller tractors just don't have the flow necessary to keep it moving at the front end - like 17 gal per minute which gets me to a jd5083 or a Kubota 8540 which is larger than i'd like- thats how i got to the m59 in the first place

Oh, that makes sense then. The M59 sure is a beast. Be sure to keep us posted along the way and post some pics when she arrives!

I am looking at getting a used M59 that has the Laurin cab on it with heat but no A/C at this point and have been trying to figure out how to add the A/C. The dealer claims that they have to change the roof to install the Laurin A/C and want $4,000 to add it. The price you indicated for the Hammond unit is much better. Did you purchase it separately and add it yourself?

I went to the Hammond website which doesn't have a lot of information. However they show the price of their JD110 kit as being almost $3,300. Did you buy factory direct or at a discount through a reseller?

I bought the kit directly from Hammond in 2006 IIRC. I am in the hvac business too, so that helped with the cost and saved a few hundred, sounds like the cost for everything is going up alot though.

If I lived in Canada I would consider skipping the ac to see if I could get by without it for the prices I am hearing today. In Arizona and New Mexico which were my intended places to use it the ac was a must have.

Thanks Jenkinsph

Unfortunately I live in the Toronto area and it can get quite warm here in the summer - especially once all the hydraulic oil gets warmed up after a couple of hours on the backhoe. I may not get the A/C this year just to try it out but it is definitely a long term goal - assuming I am able to make a deal on this machine. I think the dealer is still $5,000 - $6,000 too high as I see used M59's with similar or less hours with asking prices $10,000 - $14,000 less. If the dealer is inflexible, I will find another M59 and put the Laurin cab on with A/C from the start.

It looks like adding A/C would mean ripping out the existing heat as it is a roof top unit too. I assumed the heat only would be low in the cab but it is not.

With mine the evaporater coil is added to the heater coil which is kept in place. Not sure what Laurin is using for the newer cabs.

If I go ahead with this M59 I'll contact Laurin directly and see what my options are for adding A/C.
