Yep... If you got it, spend it. Why not?
If only I had it!

Not to be a one upper, but my neighboer (a car salesman) told me an older fellow, just bought a brand new king ranch F350 or F450 for about 72k. I just dont understand why in the world that makes sense to anyone. A truck that size is purpose built for work I would assume but its kind of sickening getting into something that expensive with anything more than some dust on your dress shoes lol.
It makes you wonder how people ever got by with a standard cab half ton truck back in the day. :confused3:
And here I've been planning for my first purchase to be a King Ranch edition of the F450 when I win the lottery.
Disposable income is still very low for many Americans and fewer people can stomach a $500-700/6 year payment for a new car. And they can't afford the maintenance on them either. That train wreck of Cash for Clunkers ruined the used car market in terms of driving up prices and it hasn't normalized yet...Who knows if it ever will. If you're buying new and trading, you'll love it---If you're buying used, you won't.
Buying a new HD truck over 6000 lbs for a business is a great way to keep Obama out of your pocket. Talk to your CPA. Buy new truck or pay it in tax, easy decision for me.

Although I'm continually amazed at the number of 30-50k vehicles I see rolling off the lots, $70k fifth wheel campers, new ATV's, etc...
Its not like you're getting a dollar for dollar reduction though. If you need a new truck anyway, great. But at the end of the day you still have 50k fewer dollars, less whatever your tax savings is. (so if you're in a 20% tax bracket and spend 50k, its a 10k savings.).
Hint- you can still take a 179 deduction and bonus depreciation on used equipment as well. Sometimes that's a better deal.
Many of those get used to tow large travel trailers around the country seeing the sites and visiting grandkids. They are bought because they are comfortable for long rides and "we may as well enjoy our money while we are still up top of the ground"

A second home defeats the purpose of 'traveling'
And have you seen those 5th wheel campers now? They ARE a 'house' Takes a lot of grunt to haul those over the mountains.
