This is why you don't let the summer student drive the company vehicle.

Seven years ago I heard a quote of $6000 to tow semi tractor from Maryland to Starke, FL. I'm unsure if that $6000 covered the refer trailer or not.

Twenty five years ago I worked for a grass seed farmer. He also owned a few sand trucks that worked locally, and one with a gravity flow trailer that worked South Florida during the citrus pulp season. The truck broke down in South Florida and the farmer and his son took one of the sand trucks and towed it back to Blountstown using a chain run through a ten foot piece of pipe. They did it at night, and never got a ticket.

I watched an TV episode last week of ( How it's made ) it showed how they built a big truck wrecker, The cost of this particular one they were building was $750,000,00 Makes me wonder what they charge for their wrecker service
the one in the video looked very similar to the 3/4 mil $$$ I seen on TV

My Dad worked for a guy that had wreckers. His boss loved truck wrecks because he could make over $20,000 from one wreck. This was back in the late 80's to mid 90's.

We had a cement truck get stuck in the yard. They tried getting the first one out with a second. Didn't work. Both were stuck so they called a wrecker. It was $350-450 per hour plus travel time both ways.

On none busy times, the local wreckers work with the local long distance companies. When they have a truck breakdown they tow a working truck down to the breakdown location and haul the disabled truck back. The driver just switches trucks and continues on with his load.

This isn't towing, but it is similar.

That company exports live seafood. See the fish on the ground afterwards.

Wow I don't know if that would have fit even if he had the forklift at the perfect height.

I couldn't get a picture but it was about a 10 foot utility trailer with the wheel barrow style tires that was only about 4 wide with a load of maple rounds on it. You could hear the tires squealing on the fenders whenever he hit a divot. The way it was bouncing I was waiting for the tires to pop. Plus instead of being on the end, all the lights were in the middle of the trailer on the fenders. Interesting set up.

I have 2.

The first is not really hauling anything wrong but the intent to. A customer had his truck in for a service and on the back of it he had a homemade ball mount on it. It was pretty scary looking. I would not have pulled a wood splitter with it. This guy has all kinds off equipment so hard to tell how much weight he had been putting on it.

Another customer brought a rolling chassis in to have some work done to it. He had 3 straps on it. One strap on the back of it that was looped around the frame and hooked back into itself. I could have pulled this strap tighter by hand. He had 2 straps on the front. The one went up over the control arm and over the tie rod end and again it was loose, about ready to fall off. His other strap on the front was a over the wheel strap and he did have it tight thankfully. This same guy hauled his Cadillac in and he come alongs hooked to the tie rods.

Today on the Florida Turnpike. Passed directly in front of State Trooper sitting on the side of the road monitoring traffic without being pulled. Was surprised.
