Yeah, it would be cool to be able to link it back to Imperial Russian manufacturer. Did they (the Finns) intentionally deface/remove Russian/Soviet markings like many captured Germany guns where. That weird marking on my receiver looks like it might have been something, and then ground down under Finnish 'remanufacture'

the vkt i have still shows the imperial russian crest on the receiver, plus an AZF capture mark. ( AZF marking meaning the rifle was captured in WW1 by the Austrians from the Russians and then sold or given to the Finnish who used its receiver for this rifle )

on sako units you can find small buffed marks where they buffed out the imp russian crest. ;)

to find the original date I had to pull the action from the stock and look at the bottom of the tang.

I ready some where, about an Imperial Russian Mosin that had Austro-Hungarian artillery unit marks, that ended up in Finnish hands; imagine if that gun could talk.

Think about the life story of the STG-44's that popped up in Al-Nusra's slimy hands a couple months ago in Homs.

I see some with civil guard marks too.

I'm always on the lookout for antique receiver models too. ;)

Tula / hex receivers are my favorite

Wondering who is making ammo for those?

To research my own question, apparently privi partisan out of Serbia still makes 7.92 x 33. And it can be created from cut down 308 Winchester cases

Czechoslokia made MP-44/Stg-44 post war, so I assume large amounts of ammo where made for it at the time; I've also seen mention of its manufacturer in Egypt/UAR (United Arab Republic: united Egypt and Syria);

Hmmm, seems that AK rifles in semi auto only are made in 7.92x33 (8mm Kruz) in Pakistan, for civilian use because 7.62x39 is "military only";

As a side note I read about 8mm x 56mmR Mannlicher ammo used in India in .303 English rifles; because the .303 is a "military only" round

Edit: Look up AK 44 bore; pattern 44 rifle; seems they are using 8mm Kruz in standard Ak47 barrels will reamed chambers in the tribal territories
