Thats a good point,both tractors share the same engine. I wonder if the GP system is a little different. :confused3:

I tried starting a Max 26 and a 3016 on their lot and they fired right up.
I'll find out Tuesday if the changed the fuel and oil on my tractor. I don't think it will make a bit of difference.
As the have a Max 26, the dealer ought to see what the differences are between GP operation of the 2 under the same conditions.
If they both "glow" the same and have same voltage and heat up the same, its in either the electric pump or the injection pump.
To get red of me they could just transplant the 3016 engine and I'm happy.

the test would be finding a max 28 on a lot and trying it as it is tuned to exactly the same specs as the 3016. Even tho the 3016 is a model size larger, it has exactly the same 28hp engine as the max 28.

saw. Video had to go try mine garage was 6 above zero cycle plugs once I usually do 2 cycles but fired right up and still using dyno oil

I sent dealer an e-mail regarding troubleshooting my Max28.
He cal em this morning.
In my past reviews of my mew Max28 in this forum, I remarked that for a new motor, it always smoked and stumbled more on start-up than my 32 year old tractor.
I mentioned to the dealer that waiting a few minutes to restart often did the trick to get it started and expressed my doubts that it was a glow plug issue or GP relay, cranking speed issue, or due to thick lubricants.
Service manager personally reinspected fuel starting solenoid, verifying it was set to spec, still no start.
He then opened it up another 1/4 turn, and it started in 17 F weather.
He is going out this morning after it warms up a bit and fiddle some more with it.
He said backing it out too much will cause motor the stumble and stall. He will find that point and then adjust by observation where the motor runs best.
So I hope the issue was the engine was not getting fuel.
I plan on bringing it home Saturday.
I appreciate the efforts by the dealer, as I bought the tractor in NY state as no Max28s locally were still available and the Max 26 was near $2000 more, so it is not like I gave the local dealer any business.
I think I need to buy a few filters.
PS the Mitsubishi motor comes with an electric fuel pump to help with priming and gravity fuel delivery.
Many other fuel injection pumps have a mechanical primer built in.

I have just read through this whole thread, I have a new 2555 hst. Tier 4 with 50hrs. It will not start when it is low 20's or below. I cycle the glow plugs 2-3 times. Battery does not last long either. I then have to put a 400w magnetic heater on the bottom of the block and a 100watt battery charger. Sometimes it takes over an hour to get it started. I just purchased a Zerostart yesterday hoping this will help. I don't think this problem is limited to the max28's. I also was thinking that my oil was to thick.

Your new tractor should start, at least down to below zero. See post #85
