Trying to decide Kubota BX25 or 1025R

Get the Deere for no other reason than that is the one you want. Would the Kubota grow on you? Probably but the price difference of less than 10% would not sway my decision, a tractor is a long term investment if done right. If not, resale value is high for either one.

A little update before the update... I called today to confirm the sale going on for the fair and he said it is the best it has ever been. I looks like it will be over extra 1k off, I think he said 1200 but would will know all the info tomorrow.

Bad good news is we signed the closing documents on the house but the loan won't close till next week so I won't be purchasing this weekend.
98% sure its going to be Green unless they don't approve me. Which would be weird with Kubota already approving me.

I read something online that John Deere doesn't report to the credit bureaus unless you request it, anyone with any experience with john deere financing?

gonna spend a good amount with the wife driving asking questions comparing tomorrow and will at least make the final decision. He said he would take the application and hold it till I close

Really? This post doesn't tell anyone why the JD is better than anything. What about the loader or the mower is better? I've listed several advantages/disadvantages, for both platforms. What differences did you note?

The loader lifts more has more break out force on the jd the mower is drive over the kubota drive over has ramps jd has alot more pto hp I bought my friends 5 foot bush hog that his bx 25 would not pull. My jd 1025 pulls it through grass up over the hood. The loader on the kubota won't lift with the bucket full unless you throttle it up. John deere is a tractor for the working class people kubota is fine if you cut a big yard and want to pick up mulch and that's it.

Yes the bx falls short in almost every category compared to the john deere it does get better fuel consumption. But I would not trade my 1025 for three bx tractors.

We have had different experiences, I own both BXs and a 1025R and they are both good tractors. If I could only have one and didn't own several other tractors, I'd probably pick the 1025R for the position control 3PH and better transmission cooler, but as to difference in overall quality and performance I've not seen it.

Will yours pull a five foot rotory cutter cause my friends will not. His has some crappy looking ramp thing he has to use for his drive over deck. And the loader is alot harder to get off and on. And will yours pick up the bucket fully loaded at max weight at an idle. Just wondering if they have recently changed them from his.

I am sorry not trying to do that. I really was wanting to know if they have made changes. My friend is really unhappy with his after using mine and I wanted to give him the info.

Why is what a machine does at idle matter? My Mini Ex won't dig all that great at idle, my diesel truck won't pull my mini ex up Pikes Peak at idle, even my 50hp won't lift full max loads to full height at idle. That is why there is a throttle.

As for running a 5' hog on a BX- really a bit big for either machine mentioned. I run a 6' on a 50hp and due to or mountains it can make it work getting up some hills, that is why I don't run a larger on one it. For a flat lander an 8' may work but use the machine for what works best on it.

The Deere as I have stated before is a good machine, it is not gods gift to tractors as Tractorguy5772 is professing.
As for PTO HP the Deere is listed as having 18PTO HP

So this whole Deere "jd has alot more pto hp" is kind of humorous and flat out wrong, it is .3HP - real world it is the same
As for the 3pt lift - yep Deere got the BX by 11lbs - there is a game changer!

I also looked at the loaders - the H120 is listed on Deeres site as having 518lbs of lift????

As for the BX, Kubota lists it the same on all there pages that I found:745 at the pin, 900 something breakout, they also show max lift at 500mm forward - so they give some good specs if you are looking for details. I didn't find a break down of exactly where Deere gets their #'s from.

As for removing the loader - takes me under 2 minutes on average from parking to removed. My kid timed me for fun one day - how much quicker do we need????? Does the Deere auto eject it or something? For the Kubota, as you pull in lift the loader while parking on a flat area. Step off, pull a little pin and a stand swings down, then put the pin back in to hold the stand. Get on machine, loader the loader and lean forward and pull the two mounting pins (one on each side) , pivot the loader forward off the mount with the loader controls, shut off tractor, wiggle control lever, and quick disconnect the 4 hoses. Your done - takes longer to write than to do. Don't let it worry you if you are looking.

The point here is NOT that Kubota is better and no other machine should ever be owned - Deere is a GOOD machine, so is the MF - buy the one YOU like, find easy to run, and does what you need. We can slant numbers, and tell how the other is worse and ours is better but it only an opinion. Kubota, Deere and MF would not all be building them if one is clearly better than the other and/or the others were junk and couldn't be used by the "working" man......

And as far as why is what it will lift at an idle important this is why it makes the cycle rate a ton faster because the pump can cycle faster watch this one.

No I am not saying your kubota is a piece of **** I am just saying it is not on the same level of workability as a 1025r so quit getting all pissy and butt hurt. If you love the kubota fine but I will take the pepsi challenge against a bx 25 anyday of the week and come out on top look at all four and imho john deere has much more for the same money and is a better value than the kubota or the mf none of them even offer auto connect.

Your past information was incorrect, the truth is the BX, and MF are also excellent machines with a strong following for a reason.
These machines are very close to being equal - each has strengths and weaknesses, the OP and others just need to find the best for them!

I have a nice craftsman rider for mowing so I don't think I will get a MMM for either the tractor. I will just be using the tractor to hog the field and then mow around the house with the rider and push mower. So the drive on deck doesn't seem like a big plus, at least right now. Could be different when the rider dies.

I would have said the same thing but once I started mowing with my BX25, I knew I made the right decision to get the MMM.

As far as your decision goes, consider how many more implements you can get for that extra $4000. Let me emphasis that this way... At this point, you think you know what your needs are. In truth, once you have a tractor, you begin to look at projects differently. Oh, she wants a privacy fence. Hmm.. Post hole digger / auger. Lord, all that underbrush needs to be raked out. Hmm.. A ratchet rake sure does a great job with that. Your truck always bottoms out crossing that knoll. Hmm.. A box blade would cut that thing down like butter. Grass field really bumpy ride on the mower? Hmm.. A tiller or disc harrow followed by drag chain harrow could smooth that. Geez, trimming all those trees sure does leave a lot of branches to haul to the burn pile. Hmm.. Forks or a grapple sure make that job 100x easier. (This is all stuff I've done with my since I got it back in December and had no thoughts of these uses).

As for mounting the tractor on the left side, yeah sometimes it is a pain, but not really that big of a deal.

First thing...I don't have a Deere, or a Kubota, so I'm not picking sides. With that said, you're doing a good job of turning this thread into an argument, and making it get closer and closer to being locked.

This forum has "be polite" as one of it's rules. Calling other people out, and suggesting they are being pissy or butt hurt is NOT being polite.

You've been a member for a couple of months, and all of 8 posts. You may want to consider how you come across (hint, it's not positive).

The facts are your Deere has a far weaker loader than the BX25 does, and the pump flow is also significantly lower. What happens at idle doesn't really mean much, because that isn't where tractors are optimized to work at. Rated speed is where the important figures are determined.

BTW auto connect is really only important with "family tractors" which is what Deere calls your 1025R. I guess they put aluminum transmission and rear axle housings on family tractors and cast iron on farm tractors.

I agree, I genuinely started this thread because I am not sure what tractor to get and wanted to get different peoples opinions. I literally have no tractor experience and both seems like great machines. Like others have said there really isn't a wrong choice and nothing wrong with either tractor.

I went down to the deere dealer and compared both side by side. Driving both was pretty fun and I still say the john deere "feels bigger" while the Kubota feels "sportier" and turns a little sharper. Does that sound right? There definitely are some differences that set them apart, but I think as just a pure work tool both will get the jobs done. I just like the feel of the John Deere better and while it doesn't seem better built maybe it is more refined? Hopefully some people will understand what I'm trying to say/explain. Driving the deere felt like I was driving a tractor and just felt roomier. Driving it reminded me of when I first got my new truck (size wise) and I thought I was going to hit everything. I like the extra little features such as the dash showing where to set the engine to. I know it seems stupid but the john deere just seems more user friendly

Driving the kubota was fun and while still feeling like a tractor it just wasn't the same. It handled great and whipped around the parking lot. I wish I could have done some work with them but it was a huge parking lot and I am still to timid to do anything. Will have to wait to get a tractor home with no one watching. While driving the Kubota I was thinking this tractor isn't bad, it just wasn't the deere. Maybe one day I would regret buying the bigger feeling tractor when I try to do jobs like mowing around stuff, driving close to fences and the house or just putting it in the garage.

Having said I like the deere better he ran my credit and it said under review so he will call them on tuesday. Same thing happened with Kubota but when they called I was approved, so hopefully it is just something they want to check. Either way if I am denied the Deere I will be getting the Kubota and I'm sure I will be happy with it. I don't dislike the Kubota I just like the Deere better. My online ***** would be the same size owning either tractor.

For liking the Deere a little bit better and the dealer bringing the price down to $18349 vs the S17900 for the Kubota, I think I will go with the 1025R. They still want me to pick it up and do the "training class" at their dealer or pay for delivery which still irks me while the Kubota dealer is willing to deliver and give me a lesson at my house which would be a lot better. Either way I wouldn't learn as much as just getting on and going.

I recently went through this Massey Furgeson, LS, New Holland, John Deere, Mahindra, and Kubota purchase experience. It is NOT easy unless one is really brainwashed as to "best color." There are things to like about each of them: price, sophistication, power, comfort, capability, implement costs (yes, a tractor is merely a platform - things get done with implements), and did I mention price?

These manufacturers compete and present themselves as "better for the price." Where I live, most tractors are green.

I bought orange for my personal selection and not because the others were inferior. Its great that we have choices, isn't it?

Like I said before, you have a wonderful choice facing you and so enjoy it for all it is worth.

What suggestion. The loader is very, very important to me, as I use it the most. And, on my BX25, it is the thing that I run up against the limitations the most. When speaking to the dealer one time, he said that people's experiences with the BX25 are such that the loader tends to lift less than the stated amount it real practice (745 lbs.). So, I would strongly recommend that you get the dealer to put anything in the bucket such as bags of sand or something like that and compare the two FELs directly, seeing as how they are both on the same lot.
