If you think that needing actual proof that bigfoot exists is required, just ask how many people have seen a black panther?
You mean "required" for proof of existence?...we know panthers (and cougars etc.) exist because there are animals in captivity, there is a fossil record and things like DNA...there are some compelling pictures of large black cats...variations (and mutations) in animal coats are common. I don't see how something like large black cats can be compared to bigfoot?
IMO bigfoot, squatch, skunkape, yeti. etc.,etc... are more akin to things like dragons and unicorns etc...because there is no physical evidence of their existence either...just myths, lore and legends...

I did not used to be so skeptical about the existence of bigfoot (even disregarding the lack of any scientific evidence) growing up in FL, reports of "skunk-apes" were fairly common...but since the advent of game cameras and the millions of them out there....many set up around food plots there should be at least some credible pictures or videos...there is more evidence of the existence of ghosts than there is of bigfoot...

What has not helped the cause is most of the so called "bigfoot experts" (I think that means they are the most gullible) have all been exposed as frauds for faking evidence...

Some of the explanations for the lack of a fossil record or skeletal evidence is absurd...unless one believes that much of the reported UFO activity is retrieving dead bigfoot bodies.

It was a great site even back then too... TBN started out as a Kubota only site back in '98, and pretty much just tractors, not all the other stuff it has now.

Hey, it's due for a 20th anniversary

Variety is the spice of life. TBN would be a rather boring place if it was limited to only tractor talk. :tractor:

First, we have to understand that a mountain lion, cougar and panther are all the same thing. We can break them down into regions, but for all practical purposes, it's the same animals with different names.

A Jaguar is a totally different animal that is found in South and Central America, all the way up to Arizona, where one is known to be living. 5% of Jaguars are known to be almost solid black. It's not all that uncommon.

They are completely different species that get confused by those wanting to say there are black panthers in the US.

There are no black panthers in zoos, or anywhere else. They do not exist.

And typical, the thread starts out fairly serious, there are some posts to the point, then about 10 or 15 posts someone starts a subthread about one of the previous posts. In this case Oscar. Then we gradually get around to UFO's and nonexistent creatures. All interspersed with some posts about the original thread.
And Muhammad never seems to age!

There used to be a bunch in New York and LA.

Can cougars, panthers etc. cross breed with jaguars?

Just because there is no identified (black) sub species does not mean there have not been mutations that "could" explain some of the images and video of large black (or near black) cats where there are no jaguars.

Somewhere out there in the big cat gene pool there could be a chromosome that emerges every so often?

Hey, sounds good to me! At my age, my mind is beginning to wander anyway.

I do not know if they can or cannot cross breed, but since nobody seems to have ever seen one, or found a dead one, I do not think so. If you stuck one of each in a small pen, could it happen? Maybe, but it doesn't seem to happen out in the wild.

As for you statement that there are images and video of large black ( or near black) cats, can you provide any links?

I've searched for years, because this is an ongoing, never ending discussion, and never found a single one that was for real. Lots of house cats, and lots of jaguar pictures, but no black panthers. Ever.
