Camera Security Systems???

Not really. They sell like hotcakes even at a grand. Optics, the lenses used on cameras; have always been expensive and always will.

Another thing to consider is the software included with the camera. Most cameras come with limited or junk software and you are required to buy something to make it usable. I can't say anything about what is included with that Hanwha camera, but the software included with the Vivotek is class leading and is no additional fee.

Actually, they do have fisheyes with IR.

I use the software that is included with the cameras, VAST2. It is included with no additional cost and has lots of nice features. The cameras do work with other software and other cameras will work with their software.

Does the fisheye software set up an IP address for each view you configure, is that how it works? Then using a channel up on your NVR for each?

No. There is only one IP for the camera. The software records the entire 360 degree view. The software creates whatever views you want out of that 360 degree view in real-time while viewing, creating snapshots, or exporting video clips.

As an example, I have a client with a retail location. They placed one fisheye over their register area. The 360 degree view of the camera is recorded at all times, but on the system management monitors the cameras from, they have multiple views setup. Three windows are zoomed into each of the three registers and a fourth view is zoomed at the front door. Even if their "views" are not on some sort of action, the camera still recorded it even though the views they are monitoring are not focused on it.

Yes, they do multiple streams and those streams are configurable. They still all work on one IP though. In the default scenario, the streams are configured at varying resolutions and framerates and are used for varying screen sizes and network conditions.

Yikes, those fisheyes are expensive. What is the application that is requiring such a wide angle?
My deck runs around 3 outside corners and one inside corner of the house. From the outside two of those corners I would get 2 views each of the deck at 270 degrees apart and cover up to the center outside corner. So my whole deck is then covered. Then a third view straight out from the corners where the cameras are would give me a view of my beach on one and my boat launch on the other. So I get 6 camera views with 2 cameras. Plus they are not as noticeable. On that part of the house ai do not need them as visible as the front of the house where I want them visible.
