What is really funny is that all you guys are sitting in your armchairs waiting for a solution to a problem that you all say does not exist, maybe it is just me, but that seems a little strange for someone who has all the experience and answers.
No, they are not saying that your tractor does not smoke on cold startups, they are saying:
1. A little smoke on a cold startup that goes away after it starts to warm up is not abnormal
2. Running it hard to do an "Italian Tune-up" will clear out carbon, etc that could be stuck in the engine and may help with smoking on a cold startup
3. A rebuild may or may not get rid of the smoking on a cold startup
4. You aren't likely to damage anything further by running it as-is
5. You would be better off running it hard and getting it cleaned out BEFORE you start taking things apart
6. It's your time and money, but we would all like to see what you do and what you find if you take it apart

I have been trying to tell you all that it is NOT just a little smoke at start up after it sits for a couple weeks hot or cold, as long as I started it about every day there was not much smoke. there is some minor tapping in the lifters, I was asking if it could need valve guide seals to stop oil from draining into the cylinders after it sat for a while, apparently none of you know.

And here is the ford tractor expert questioning my integrity and honesty.

Well, until you prove us wrong, I'm with Rick.

I will say you have done an excellent job of Trolling this thread to 144 posts. :)

This is like a car wreck. I know I shouldn't look, but I can't turn away.

That is correct.

You guys have your little group and you are going to protect each other, I have seen you crack the whip on anyone who questions your little wooden throne. the others are your little yes men. You are not here to help anyone, if you were you would have straight forward advice on what could be done. Is that how you treated the customers you had to deal with? try to make them look stupid, and give them that condescending attitude, and accuse them of lying.

You have proved to be unwilling to accept consistent experienced advise from several members. You did not take the opportunity to perform a compression test at a time when it made absolutely no sense not to. You continue to guess at the perceived shortcomings of your tractors engine. You have provided inconsistent conflicting information about your tractors alleged symptoms in an effort to elicit recommendations that align with your preconceived solutions. When that all proved inadequate you resort to insults. All of which seems to be the fault of myself and others.

What exactly would the compression test have accomplished at the time I was about to install the rebuilt injection pump?
What information would I have gotten from it, low compression and therefore the engine probably needs rebuilding,If it had been low I probably would have stopped to consider if I wanted to do any more to it. High enough compression and therefore the engine probably would run with the injection pump, either way I had over $500.00 in the pump, I decided to go forward and see what happened, it ran but smoked. I still don't think the engine needs to be rebuilt right now, That is why I am asking about valve seals
