The first thing I did when I got it out was to look at the bar, I figured at least it was bent or I chipped a tooth but nope nothing, will see what kind of trouble I can get it in this next summer.
If a person finds someway to bend the bucket the bar will bend with it you would think.

I'd rather the bucket/toothbar be the weakest link, rather than the loader arms or something else much pricier than the bucket/bar.

I don't think I would use either bar. I would wait for the area to freeze and then just scrape or burn the grass off.

Naw I can't burn it man, lol...I'd be lighting up my neighbor's property as well! What would you scrape it with, rear blade?

It's actually not a bad idea to hit it now while it's frozen. Hmmm...

The blade on the front end loader bucket is what I was thinking of.

Devil's advocate though, nobody complains about their piranha bar, even with the softer steel or less gnarly tooth pattern. But yeh, EA, your wicked toothbar certainly looks impressive, I'm sure you'll sell a bunch of them.
Maybe not. But he did more than justify the cost and an extra $100 is a small price to pay for a tool that will be used like that. Firm believer in "buy once, cry once". And if you can afford a compact tractor to begin with...an extra $100 for build quality isn't worth discussion.

Everything is worth a discussion on a discussion board.

I must be using my PB incorrectly as it does not do a great job of ripping out saplings. It is much better than the bucket lip...so yes, a big improvement. After using it the first time, I wished I had purchased the ratchet rake. I figured the RR would do better but I did not want to take in on and off....and I bought into the reviews of the PB. Again, maybe it is me and the PB is great but I would try something different.

If I was buying again I would get the EA unit. I cannot justify the cost of many of their attachments as I am a hobby user so something like my MTL grapple, at less the half the cost, is good enough. But an extra $100 or a bar that will stay on the loader for life is peanuts.

Like any attachment what works for some might not work for others and in my situation the PB is the perfect bucket attachment for removing Sumac on my property and it works well with the soil i have(black dirt, some clay, sand and gravel) to the point I see no real reason to remove it, I also have a pair of tamers I can put on if needed plus the forks fit on the bucket with the PB left on, I was looking at a ratchet rake before the PB but when all said and done the PB was best suited for what my needs were and are.

I was watching this one dude on youtube using a ratchet rake, he had a pretty good technique that I never did before. He rolls into brush with the bucket just clearing the ground, and then when the rake grabs the brush, he lifts up the bucket a little as he's driving forward. My method has basically been the exact opposite... going into brush with bucket raised a little, chomping down with the bucket and reversing.

I would use it the same way if I had bought one. I still need to put the PB through some more testing this spring being all I have done so far is to clean that 32 foot x 45 foot area of Sumac for my shop build, I still have a bunch of other digging and cleaning that I want to do with the PB in that same area but ran out of time.

Or,...... maybe a gold Doubloon with any purchase?

You may be on to something here..

How's the wife feeling, dude...hopefully doing better.

Chomping down and reversing while ripping things out by the roots is where the ratchet rake has a leg up on the piranha bar. But for forward-motion applications, piranha bar has the clear advantage coz you could slice through things and dig with it, as well as rip things out of the ground, whereas the RR could only rip things out.

However, one other advantage the rake has is I found it's great as a mini cultivator. You could make a chunk of land very level with a piranha bar, but then have to work the spot to get it ready for seed. With the ratchet rake, you level and break up soil and all that, it's a real time saver for prepping for seeding.

I have been using my pb for two yrs now and love it . I have dugs tons of dirt . Sheared off hundreds of small saplings ,Worked on my gravel road and many other things and it is still as sharp as new. I doubt it was designed for digging solid rock and concrete.

OP - Could you use a heavy rotary cutter on that? Clear the debris( I saw some wood in one of the photos) and everything else seems "mowable" with a decent bush-hog. That leaves the growth still there to stabilize the soil, but make it easy to walk and work in there. You could always rent a walk behind unit if you don't have one for your tractor.

BTW - I have a Piranha bar on my machine. As with others, it pulls saplings and bushes out by the root better than shearing them off, but will shear sizable growth. With thick grass though, it won't do much of anything. I like it for anything I need to remove that's too small for a chainsaw and too big for my brush cutter.

Hey Crash, yeh I may go with the walk-behind brush hog rental. Actually, that's what I did last time I knocked all that down, a few years back. Just bouncing around ideas.

Technically, I could even justify buying a rotary cutter, I'd have some other uses for it, but I could see my wife rolling her eyes about another pricey purchase lol.

I make them 1200 pixels wide, which is what I've always done(for like almost 10 years). What are you viewing on? How do they look to everyone else? Just curious because I do not have any perspective if it's an apple product.
