Lost a tire last weekend still holds air.....

I could handle, but be annoyed with 4800lbs.
But 4000lbs is out of the question.
Might as well save $4,000 and buy a trailer with 8k axles.....which I may very well do.
I don’t think most of the people selling these trailers know what theyre doing.

My guess is it is a typo or the salesman don't have a clue. The upgrade 14 ply 4k tire is for 7k axles v/s the standard offering of 10 ply @ 3520lbs.

Yup, typical Gladiator oem tire, my 2 Load Trail's had those and they looked just like that when I tossed them.

Yup. They actually speced the standard tire at about 3600lbs. Their “ upgrade tire “ was 4000lbs :ashamed:
Im thinking, a single 3600lb tire on a 10k axle????? Really????
Thats the tire rating on my small trailer! :ashamed::thumbdown:

You will like 'em. Kinda spendy from scratch tho. Here are some high grade ones:

If you don't mind Chi-com, these are an okay tire/wheel and reasonable, free freight. They are oem on my Lamar and PJ in the 17.5. Kinda goofy link but it is good.

When mine went south, oem 235/80x16, 10 ply, I went to these 235/85x16, 14 ply. I don't use the trailer much but so far so good, about 2 years old now.

What would a 17.5 rated for 5k or more and a rim for a 8 lug 10k axle cost? My 10 ton trailer has 5 pretty good tires and needs 3 but I could run the 5 good ones on my 14k trailer if the price was right. Edit I just saw the link above. I’d probably pay $250 a tire but for $400 a tire plus needing a wheel I believe my trailer is going to stay dual/tandem. If I was running a bunch of miles I’d give it more thought but I’m not.

I DO use my big GN for bales, probably 100 loads/year.
Cant haul lose aggregates on GN flatbed and sometimes we need 2 trailers at the same time.
Also want smaller trailer for a few tight driveways some of my customers have. Why do I have to explain? :confused3:

It doesn’t bother me what you buy with your money but wouldn’t just a 14k flat deck that cost 1/3 what a dump does and weighs less so it can haul more make more sense than a dump for hauling hay and pallets.

Those are the most common items I will be hauling. Next time I guess I’ll make a complete list
I will also be hauling construction debris, stone, dirt, etc. Its going to be used on a construction site, too. Like a dumpster on wheels.

I already have a small flatbed trailer. Why would I buy another one when I need a dump trailer? :confused2:

Anyway, I think I’m beginning to realize my DC salesman asked about tires for a lighter trailer. :confused3:
I mean who would put 4000lb single tires on a 10k axle?
Or maybe that’s normal. Sure don’t seem normal to me.
