Regret a cab tractor?

at work i use 2 cabbed (l6060 and lx3310) and 2 open station (l3200 and b2920) with about 6000 hours of tractor experience. my only complaint with cabbed tractors is having to clean glass regularly and the morning glare in early spring and late fall. ive broke a few flashers on low branches and i miss the rare occasions when there is a nice summer breeze but i'll take the cab any day.

I've owned 7 Kubota tractors over the last 40 years and all were open station. I do a lot of woods work and have more than a mile of tree line which would quickly tear up a cab. I use my current open station MX5800 HST to do excavating, mow 7 acres in Summer and plow 1.5 miles of private road in Winter. I also do grading work on the road year round. Without a cabbed tractor, during very cold weather, I would use my pickup to do the plowing.

Last year, I picked up a new L6060 HSTC tractor with a cab. I now mow in A/C comfort, plow in a T-shirt and will never be without a cabbed tractor again! I use the MX5800 for the excavating and woods & tree line work. Having a second tractor with a cab is something I should have considered years ago!

Plowing snow in a cabbed tractor has the side benefit of no longer beating up my expensive pickup doing the task.

To answer your question, no, I don't regret buying a cabbed tractor but it's handy to have both.

I've been on a search this year for a 4WD tractor and was on a path to an open station version. Various members on TBN have swayed me to the cab version and I'm almost there. With 4WD I believe I will use the tractor year round instead of storing it during the winter like I do with the JD 2020. Just to give me a view of something I haven't thought of, has anyone gone back to an open station after getting a cab tractor?
I have a B7800 open Kubota and 394 TMY with a cab. TYM has a front end snowblower...cab is 😊 I use the Kubota in the summer...like to be in the sunshine!

About every 4 years I trim the limbs around all of my fields, hay fields, cow pastures, fields that I plant winter rye in and that allows me to work worry free with the cab tractor, but when I trim I cut as high as I can with my Milwaukee pole saw so it's not a yearly chore.

I have my wife drive me around the field in the carryall. I wear a harness and can cut with a chainsaw.

Maybe, after I retire from my day job in about 10 years, I will develop a little more appreciation for cabbed tractors. Right now, you couldn’t pay me to own one. 45 hours week in a heated and air conditioned office is way more than enough for me.

I live for the after work and weekend “outside time” on my open station tractors.

Our late '60s IH 424, hauling in pumpkins for our farm stand in 2013. My grandfather's 1952 Case SC is behind it. Also, our John Deere 4600, blowing some early season snow out of the driveway in 2016. Like I said earlier, each has its advantages and disadvantages.

My situation (in and omong trees) makes the cab a poor prospect. A winter approaches, it does look more attractive. A couple hours of plowing would be more comfortable inside.
