As long as you don't have anything go bad and start dumping shrapnel into the system that is a good plan...A comment on filters in general: Years ago I read an article about the rate of "dirtiness" for crankcase oil, with measurment taken with engine that had no filter. The conclusion was that it would reach harmful levels about three thousand miles, about the recommended change interval at the time.
I was not ready to dismiss oil filters based on that, but did conclude that any non-junk filter would be fine, no need to worry about the "bestest" brand.
