Same as the one I have, let us know what you think. Looks like you have the guard you have is the string trimmer one. Do you have the brushcutter one? It is quite a bit smaller and metallic so it does not get damaged as easily
That was the guard if came with. The blade didn't come with any so that's all i ahve. Please post pics of yours sometime.

New accessorie or working attachments for the Stihl KM 131R kombi. Please note, I've not yet got to use this steel saw like end. As stated earlier, this will be sharpened with the same round files as our 3/8 chains.View attachment 799815View attachment 799816

Is it on down-side-up? I have it in my head that these spin counterclockwise when viewed from this angle.

I little trail clearing work update. I had excepted a job at https://www.societystjohn.com/ this summer to update their trails with a small crew. This is a all summer task since they needed much work not been touched in years. My wrist was giving me grief so it was x-rayed then a MRI was done. Turns out I have a torn ligament* in it and need to wear a brace for months to allow it to heal back and can't be using that bad wrist. I was back to the monastery today and told the head father about my lame wrist and he want me there to supervise a crew, at least part time. Good news for a charcter like me who loves trail work!

*Symptoms of a TFCC tear include pain on the outside of the wrist, reduced range of motion, swelling in the wrist, popping or clicking when moving the wrist, or limited ability to grasp objects. While anyone can develop TFCC, athletes, being over 50 and having chronic inflammation are risk factors for developing TFCC.

Gee Arly, those symptoms describe half my joints. I hope you heal up soon.

That large grass cutting shield will take a beating plowing through brush with a metal blade. The blade itself has an arrow for direction of rotation. In your second picture, note that your teeth are facing the opposite direction from the picture kenmbz posted.

Seems that some pictures get reversed when posted. Don't ask me why. Ken's blade looks backwards to me.

This fellow on YT did tests on small cordless saws and I like his testing in general. In this test, he included the little Makita's I have. I agree with his assessment that the Makita have low torque but still good little saws.

I did order some treated camp pants from LL Bean but i can't recall the maker of them. Looking on Amazoine I'm surprised they offer so few. The company Insect shield seems to have the most

Over the long weekend, we hope to do some reblazing to our trail. Ours will be blue.View attachment 802408
skiers: "is that a patch of snow on the tree or a trail sign???" *throw snowball at tree* ok looks like snow, we must not actually be on the trail

Blue's a good idea, trails in this general area tend to have a blue diamond on the tree (usually like a 4"x4" piece of metal or plastic)

Metal or plastic blazes got voted out by the NPS, NTC and NFS due to nails and other reasons. Like harvesting trees with plastic and steel in them. We paint blazes which are about the same size as a dollar bill.

Our timber-managing landlord has stated aluminum nails are acceptable. That they use aluminum nails also.

We have need of posting "No Trespassing" signs. Then for trail markers we are allowed to use staple guns.

Aluminum nails were the standard X years ago. I'd guess volunteers would switch to steel when not noticed.

I guess it is a matter of trust. Of lost trust for not honoring the landlord's wishes to use aluminum nails.

We still have our landlord's trust.

This was decided in Washington DC during meetings with the North Country Trail, the Appalachian Trail Conservancy, the Park service and the National Forest Service. Feel free to contact them and ask them the particulars of this decision. Our land owner asked for paint and its use, works fine.
