One thing I never do is remove the loaders from the tractors, never had the need to and on the M9's loader removal is a royal PITA anyway. Why I have both loaders with SSQA attachment units. One is the ATI unit which is quite robust and the other is the stock Kubota attachment which isn't robust as the ATI but so far I have not had any issue with it. I just keep in mind that it's not as well built as the ATI is. I would never have any loader without an SSQA attachment out front. Males it so much easier to change out buckets or anything else I require, like my big snowplow with power angle for wintertime use.

I have never removed the FEL on my Kubota M6040. No real reason to.

There could be another reason for not removing the FEL - in my case. Remove the FEL - also removes the grapple. That's about 2500 pounds on the front axle. With the 1000+ pound Rhino rear blade on the 3-point - the tractor might just rear up - all on it's own.

I don't need to find out - :giggle:

i have a 1996 JD 6200 w/a GB440 FEL. I'd like to buy a 72" grapple to help me with all the downed limbs and storm debris on my property. Who makes a solid dependable grapple that would fit my old JD?
I have an MTL attachments grapple that has been fine for me. They make models to fit the JD quick attach, but I confess I don't know if you have that on your particular FEL.

There are different styles of grapples, such as root rake, open bottom, or bucket. Decide what type you want. Each has its use and advantages. I have a W.R. Long 72" OBG-1 grapple on my Workmaster 75. It stays on the FEL, I use the TC40DA to do the dirt work. It works great. I have lifted large logs to capacity without any damage.
