No, I’m saying it all went to s@#$ because he moved there and that was just one more thing that turned to s@#$ for the family. He is appalled by that and so was his wife. And who could blame them, it’s an abomination and just another way our young are getting screwed up. Maybe his son was more comfortable doing that in CA since it is one of the most woke places to live and would be more acceptable there. I won’t debate the delusional thinking that there are more than two sexes or trying change one’s sex. It’s a waste of time to argue or debate about the absurd.

A/C was not a thing and just now gaining traction with the mandate to all electric heat pumps.

Just another suffocating mandate imposed by a government agency that costs a citizen more money. Just like the T4 stuff on smaller tractors. All for the guise of global warming when, in fact, China is the big emitter and don't care at all.

Global warming and climate change is a hoax anyway. Environmental cycles have been there since recorded time began. We may add to the severity of those cycles but certainly are not the root cause of them, nor can we alter them despite what 'enviromentalist's' think.

I dunno...it's very possible to hit bottom and stay there. I look at so many New England former mill towns that were booming 100 years ago, holding their own 50 ago but are now shells of themselves now that the industries that supported them are gone. I'd imagine a lot of "rust belt" cities of the midwest are the same.
Pretty hard to attract newcomers to places like that.

I dunno...it's very possible to hit bottom and stay there. I look at so many New England former mill towns that were booming 100 years ago, holding their own 50 ago but are now shells of themselves now that the industries that supported them are gone. I'd imagine a lot of "rust belt" cities of the midwest are the same.
Pretty hard to attract newcomers to places like that.

When I look at a city like Oakland with a vibrant port, rail, climate, proximity to surf and ski, boating, tech, redwoods and the best sunset views of SF it's hard to give up.

It comes down to the people that make the city work are often marginalized and those that are a burden get free rein.

I'm talking about policy that allowed shoplifting with consequences and the whole gamut of property crimes without consequences coupled with the high tax burden for services.

I’m in a city of 450,00 and our Walmart closed, theaters closed, fast food closed like In and Out Burger and 7 fire stations closed but my property tax on a 33 year old 3 bedroom home is 20k.

At one time I had a small interest in a property in Tahlequah.

I pay less than $3K/year in property taxes for 20 acres with a 3000 square foot house and 2400 square foot barn/shop building. Santa Fe county.

Many do leave because of taxes...

We have Prop 13 which tends to hold the line in counties but in cities like mine with over 25 voter approved special assessments it all ads up... like paying for sports stadium renovations at the behest of the Oakland Raiders that will continue for years after the Raiders left Oakland...

No one can say the Raiders and Warriors were not well supported but in the end fan loyalty did not matter.

I think it should be illegal for sports stadiums to be funded with taxpayer dollars. As near as I can tell it never works to the benefit of the taxpayer. And think of all the people who never watch sports and couldn't care less? Why should they have to pay for a privately owned sports complex?
