I worked at a gas station in high school. I saw a few people drive off with gas handles in their car. We had break-aways on each line, but there was still about 10 feet of hose between the handle and break-away, so you'd see that bouncing along on the pavement behind the car as they'd drive off.

The biggest problem for the station manager was that replacing those handles and hoses wasn't cheap! I think it was like a $1000 "oops" in 1990 dollars, each time it happened.

Also watched a smoker set himself on fire while pumping gas once. Endlessly entertaining, since at the very moment it happened, he was commenting to his passenger on the stupidity of our "NO SMOKING" signs.

Actually this is a bad idea. The Ioniq can be damaged by this, when it causes a huge amount of current from the primary battery to instantly recharge the 12v lighting battery. That charging is usually done slowly. (source)

I'm thinking about buying an Ioniq5 like this one - but not yet.

I was filling a woman's car once when she threw her lit cigarette out onto the ground. When I called her out she made it clear that she didn't care what I thought.

I was fueling up when the truck in the next bay pulled up then stopped abruptly. The driver had not hung up the pump on the drivers side of all places. The spout had broken off the handle into his tank.

I watched that happen a few years ago in a Costco parking lot. A couple from 1000 miles away was helping their son move into his first apartment out of MBA school. His first TV: 80" LCD. Their car: Toyota Avalon.

Saw them rolling the TV out into the parking lot. Looked their direction and didn't see any vehicle big enough so I stood on the side board of my F-150 to watch over the roof.

First they tried to stuff it in the trunk. Stuck way out. Then (first good laugh) they looked to see if the rear seat folded (no). Even if it did how were 3 adults to ride home?

Then the back seat. They got the thing in but it stuck out a foot on both sides. Again they would have had to leave someone behind.

After I composed myself I shouted, "How far do you have to go?" Was on my way home. "Put it in the back of my truck and one of you come with me." That's how I got the full story.

I know a guy he was driving on the highway at 60/65mph with his friend at night, his spots light where not to his liking so he looked at his friend and said ''hold the steering wheel'', put the cruise on, lower his window to crawl out the truck to go adjust his lights... his friend was looking back at what the hell he was doing, the truck gradually moved to the shoulders, when it did he panic and give a aggressive correction, his buddy on the roof flew out. He was blue from head to toes but he didn't break anything.

Odd, that the second one looks like a more real and feasible carving, but with the obvious glitch at the hands, whereas the first seems to be disqualified by the lack of any visible growth rings in the wood.

I meant to post these carving photos in the "groan" thread, so moved them there as soon as I noticed, probably as you were typing.
