OOPS, no pic,
my daughter needed three sheets of 3/4" 4X8 plywood,, in the same truck, today.

We slid the plywood in over the closed tailgate of the 6 1/2 foot bed,,

She INSISTED that we add a strap to keep the plywood in the truck,,, :laughing:

You might be surprised what airflow does to items being hauled. I can see it sucking that plywood out even leaning into the bed that way. When I was in college I hauled loads for a lumberyard and one time had bales of insulation get sucked out from under straps. Don't underestimate what airflow can do.

The pallet is shrink wrapped, and there is a strapping band,,,

I don't see a problem with it, in a severe accident or roll over it's going to go every where anyways.

In a similar vein, was this load strapped down good enough;
One ton per pallet 50, 40# bags of coal.


The pallets are stacked touching in the center with the strap snugged down to look good.
If this trailer went off the road and overturned there would be coal scattered all around.
But a person can't live if they are constantly worried about what might happen,
take reasonable precautions drive safely well within the limits of your capabilities and your vehicles.

I had a load similar when I redid the floors in my house. I had a partial sheet of plywood at the house about the same size as the pallet. I laid that on top of the laminate and then scrounged a used pallet at the big box store that I placed on top of the plywood. Then strapped the load down corner to corner.

Then drove really easy to the house.

Being shrink wrapped will stabilize it, I would just add an empty pallet between the load & cab to prevent for & aft movement.
Then drive with care.

It was probably blocked in by other pallets so that it had nowhere to slide.

talking about unsecured loads... i picked up a 6 foot section of nicely powdercoaded lightweight H cross section steel in my front yard. Glad it did not go thought someones windshield. I am sure ill find a good use for it.

I haul 1 ton pallets of wood pellets that are bagged then shrink wrapped. The bags are pretty secure. I used to strap them, now I don’t.
