I have one on my plow;never adjusted it and it worked fine from the factory.Note:doesn't help if the plow is fully angled and you hit something with the full angled side.I.E.,if fully angled right and you hit something with the right(short) side it won't help.Ask me how I know!
It may vary by state:I have an "Inland Marine"policy on my tractor and related equipment;covers fire/theft on "my"property. Cost is $157 per year and not covered by home owners.
I have had birds(pheasant, quail, chukars) for 40 years,my father before that;we never added heat in winter, they just don't need it.
chickens will stop laying.
Ever hear of a "down"jacket?
I have owned all(not Polaris) the major brands;last four have been Yamahas;currently have a Kodiak and a Viking.Previous Rhino and :Grizzley. All were very good machines;I put on maybe 2-3K per year both for pleasure and business.
After having beef for 20+years;my advise Sell them all.Too many head-achs.You have to feed them, keep them fenced in(you are liable),keep them healthy.I would never have a bull again, way too dangerous.
Ours went down the road many years ago.Beef is cheap at the store compared to raising a...
I have used it for many years, buy from a JD dealer or order on line.Make sure to advise your dealer/mechanic that you used it.They thought I had put in automatic trans oil!
Snow pushers are for parking lots,IMHO.A rear blade is alot better and a FEL snow plow the best.Used this combination for 12 years and we average maybe 100in/yr.
I have used the JD dye for years for the same reasons, just tell the dealer if they do any service. They had thought I had put automatic trans fluid in it!Helps to find any leaks also.
My $36k tractor (Kubota) was delivered with the fuel full,my $7k lawn mower(from a different dealer) was NOT.A friend also purchased the same mower from the same dealer and his had no fuel either.Poor business practices in my book.
What happens when you can get through with a V plow?I would thing it would take a lot of weight and speed to work well.
If your straight blade is "flopping"you need stiffer springs or it's a fixed down and not floating. All truck plows float on a chain;I built mine the same and it works well.
Just looked at a new Ram pick up;they have a similar "scam"as GM,you purchase heated seats, remote start ect and in three months it won't work unless you subscribe to their service @$15 a month.
NOT doing it!
A friend just purchased the same truck(same color);it's his second Colorado;the other was a 2017.He likes them. The new 2023 are going to be crew cab, short box, turbo 4 cylinders ONLY.Did away with the V6 and diesel.
I own two 25/06,40 years;always have hand loaded Noslers, either the partion or Accubond.115 or 120 grain with great success on deer.I think Federal uses this bullet or Nosler ammo themselves.
I have a 2021 700 Kodiak and a 2016 Viking;both machines have been very good. They are my third and fourth new Yamahas.I have owned Honda,Suzuki,Kawasaki also;good luck with all.
We have owned 8N and 9N's,easy to get hurt on one;gear drive and have to push in clutch.Got rid of them and went to HST tractors which are much safer,IMHO and have roll bars.
We had a neighbor killed on one trying to pull out a stuck pick-up loaded with wood.Flipped over backwards and pinned...
Do some more research before purchasing.I talked to the Subaru dealership,it will be on all their models,I would assume GM will do the same.
Note;I retired from GM(UAW) and follow all the auto news.I have a 2017 and 2018 GM both with (non-active) OnStar and the remote and heated seats...
That is how is Used to be,changeing for the worse. You will lose it all in the 2023 models;if you don't pay.
I have owned 30+ GM vehicles and maybe my last.
That's it :1500 dollars for the First three years and then you pay more to keep it.They used to give you Onstar for a couple months hoping that you will renew.
Recently talked to a Subaru dealer and they are doing the same, just tacking it on the MSRP;again for three years then you pay...
Just read GM,Subaru and others now are going to have a mandatory subscription for;heated seats, remote start ect.Can you imagine!Unreal. In GM's case you are forced to purchase OnStar,no choice rolled into the price.
I was considering a trade, this may be enough for me(and a lot of others) not...
Happened to reach a salesman when I called for parts;asked about inventory and he said he had a few
50 HP tractors but no loaders(FELs) for them and didn't know when they would be available.Like everything else;hard to come by.
Have a L4240 HSTC with 1300 hours;one year ago, it developed the dreaded HST leak(bad seal) in transmission.Had it repaired(tractor must be split by the local dealer)six weeks down.Used it yesterday and appears it's gone again;small leak about a drop a minute.
I have only put about 75 hours on...
I have a Fimco ,12' boom for my Atv works well but you must wear protection(Roundup type of spray) 15 gal.tank.Pumps are replaceable should be rinsed after use of glyphosate.
Your case ,I would purchase one for the three point and go with a 25 gallon.
Depends on how big the plow is:L2250 is fairly small so no bigger than six ft.?
I have had one for ten years(8') on a larger L4240 (7K) with no problems;third function for the angle. As long as the plow has a trip it will not hurt the FEL.
It's a seller market for sure;can't get any products to sell;tractors ,cars ,trucks ,boats, atv ect.And they all are making a "lot of money"because of it.
I.E. GM has raised the price of new trucks $5K in 2022 and still can sell every one they build( most are sold before they hit the lot)...
We built a pole barn three years ago and another this year;Home Depot sells a 6x6"(plastic) post protector at about $33.00 ea.;that is what we used+a concrete pad under post.We are in Northern NY so get a deep frost.
Years ago I tried cementing in post and it was a big mistake.
It may be easier to find an old truck plow;7' is really not wide enough for your tractor.I was a welder/fabricator by trade and wouldn't try to fab an old rear blade.
I.E. build it as short as possible.Mine works but is a little long(old truck plow($150.00).
Looks good;from someone who has raised birds for 35+years;put an Electric fence up around it(mine is 120v with a dusk and dawn timer).Keeps the nite "critters" away but safe for kids and dogs during the day.
We hatch about 1k pheasant every year(our 19th) ,a few bobwhite and chukar. This year's hatch is going pretty well, about 600 hatched so far;maybe 65%.We keep breeder birds and purchased 720 eggs from a hatchery in Pa.
We bought eggs the last two years to get a jump on our weather(cold and wet...
Most used would be one of our bush-hogs(1k+ hours on our old Bush-Hog branded and about half that on the LandPride).Handiest is the Greed Machine's Thumb on the bucket.
I have lots of attachments but most see limited(seasonal) use.
I fill mine when 1/2 empty, not taking a chance on running out.5 gallons seems to fill it;11 gallon tank.I burn about 1.5 gal./hr @ pto speed on my L4240.
Also depends where you live;fill up with summer fuel then it turns cold?We have two similar sized(slightly bigger) I would bet we don't burn 100 gallons a year.Food plot prep,bush-hogging and snow removal.
The buck-thorn that we have is very tough and deep rooted.I had about ten acres cleared with a SS and FECON head(this after ten years numerous tractors and bush-hogs).That worked well,we now maintain with the tractors.
After clearing;we plowed up and put into food plots.
There is no "blue book" for tractors as far as I know;look up similar on www.tractorhouse.com,equiptment trader.com ect.Attachments maybe 50-60% of new if in good shape.
Used prices are up right now.
Just type in your model for sale in google search.Varys somewhat for areas.
Normal steel pipe is schedule 40,schedule 80 is heavy and stronger.
I would check lift capacity of your load(assume about 1200lb) so you want a lighter grapple;I would assume.Don't know any advantage to two cylinders.
I have moved a lot of brush and logs with a single cylinder.
I owned a L3130 HSt and currently an L4240 both have been good;the older 50;s series is suppose to be good also.Don't over-look the smaller "L"series ,we have two in the family.
That a nice machine for sure and a decent price;depends what kind of hay(size) they do make small square balers.Lift capacity may be light for large rounds.
After a lot of research I purchased a Echo 58volt chainsaw;later a string trimmer.A little heavy but works very well for me.I don't cut fire-wood any-more just clean ups.Lots of power and 16" bar.
My son has one a JD at work;noisy and no air conditioning. No way near a factory cab.A friend put one on a L7800 Kubota, same thing.
Need to take the doors off in summer.
I had 10 acres or so cleared(buckthorn) with a SS and Fecon head;expensive but it worked great. We didn't spray but worked up and put in food plots.Mow in the spring.
Saved any "good" trees.
I have had a Green's Machine Thumb for ten years or so;that with a tooth-bar make a decent "poor man's grapple".Doesn't open as far as a full grapple but weighs less.Best thing I ever purchased for my tractor.Still need the third function(I also use mine for a snow-plow).
Living in upstate NY ,I have been accused of being Canadian a few times;nothing wrong with the way they speak. It also varies from providence to providence;East to West.
Grew up just a mile from the border and listened to Canadian T.V.and radio. When things were better we use to run over for...
And ,how long the dealer has been in business. My Kubota dealer is great and is in the third generation as a dealer.Have seen a lot of start-up and failures locally.
Went to my local GM and Subaru dealers today;nothing new that isn't already sold!Salesman that I know told me their making "lots" of money,go figure.Fair numbers of used but the prices are like a new one.
I have had lots of cameras over the years;have 5 Brownings and 3 cell based TactaCams.Highly recommend either.Cell based send pictures in 2 minutes.Black flash and hang high ,aim down.
My build two years ago;24x32x12' with 6/12 trusses, five windows ,man-door,12/10' over head door, metal roof and sides ,poles on 8' centers;Amish labor $2500 ,totaled $13k,no concrete.
Note;engineered trusses and regular lumber(not Amish).
We did the site work and drilled the holes,un-loaded the...
I usually trade every two years or so,not right now for sure.Only have 16,800 miles on this one.
Another note;even with all the "shortages" record profits by the car companies.
After 16 years with two HST tractors(32+42 HP) I have use medium about 95% of the time other than roading(toggle up/down with Kubotas) and run 1800 rpms or so.Rarely use stall guard.
Something else to try;slightly lower your three point hitch. If this is out of adjustment it will put the hydraulics into "relief"" and kill your power.Simple adjustment by dealer.
Something is not right;I have a similar tractor and never use low range or run out of power.
Will drive you crazy trying to figure that out;I know the most American made car is a Honda;and truck is a Toyota!
I believe Kubota at least makes all the own parts.
A couple hours pre-heat is enough, just a waste any longer.Buy a heavy duty timer.I leave a battery tender on mine all the time in cold weather and switch to the block heater a couple hours before use.
Farmer's electricity is paid by "the farm" so they don't care.
After letting my cabbed tractor sit outside for ten years(!) ,two years ago I had a 24x32x12 high pole barn built at a cost of 13K with-out a concrete floor.
I have a heated 36x24 garage but the tractor won't fit in it(7ft doors).
Glad I did it when I did with the price of materials. The barn...
For a little snow a few times a year;a rear blade on the tractor does a good job and you will have it for other uses.
A medium duty 8' with off-set would be perfect.
L4701 has a relatively weak loader for it's size,as suggested the Mx series should lift your intended loads.Kubota loaders are roughly 2 times the number on the loader(I.E. 854=1708 lbs.).
Also there is "standard" for determining capacity across the manufactoriers ,some measure at the pins...
A lot of us have used and old truck plow and Skid Steer plate(if you have a quick attach loader) for snow removal.I have maybe $300 in mine.Been using it for ten years.
'On my Kubota I use a battery tender and a block heater if really cold(+10F).My glow plugs stay on for more than ten seconds and usually I give it at least two cycles if cold out.Mine now sits in and unheated barn but for ten years was out doors.
One thing;the cabs are pretty well sealed and in winter we drag in some snow on our boots;so there is bound to be a lot of moisture in the air.As stated turn on the air and open a window for a while.
I have a HST Kubota, owned two and have the "clutch pedal"that you have to depress to start;should be similar.
I never(16 years of cold weather in northern NY) kept it depressed.
Battery Tender and block heater if really cold, let idle for a while.
We have Direct Tv for 25 years or so,they just kept raising the price ,last bill was $182.00.As soon as we got high speed internet we went with a FireStick(3) like it.Lots cheaper and more bang for the buck.
Only problem I found was the FireStick gets loaded after a while and had to do a...
I two Dakota Alerts;they work well,one is 1/2 miles away(Murs type)
Deer will set them off.I recently switched to cell based game cameras and more than happy with this set-up.sends a picture within two minutes.Tatcta Cam Reveal.
We have had a Vermont castingp propane stove for 20+years,cast iron with out It's own fan(have ceiling fan).Set the thermostat to 70 degrees and forget it.Run from Nov.to April or so.
It runs with-out power so is our back-up heat source also.
Not cheap but a great investment and made in the USA.
I went from a L3130 open station HST to a cabbed L4240 HST;so similar to what you are thinking;big difference in power but I kept all of my implements that were sized for the smaller machine. No problem.I did upgrade to a 6'brush-hog but kept the 5'.
In your case I would look bigger;L4760 and up.
Maybe it's just me but;average 120 hours a year so oil changes at every 2-1/2 years or so what are you really saving?I have and will stick with Kubota branded oils.
Congrats;great trade;I was a certified welder/pipefitter also for 40+years.Only thing that is a young man's job, eyes and body fails later in life.It was great for me,was a supervisor towards the end.
Replaced all our windows and doors, replaced an inefficient wood stove with a very good propane unit(no power needed) and last year built a 24'x32' pole barn. Also replaced the heater in garage with an over-head propane unit.
I have used Stabil for years works well;I used to pull my battery but no longer do;I pick a nice day and start the machine during our long winters in Northern NY.Power Service for the diesel and Stabil for the gas machines.
I have had a Vermont Castings Reliant for 20+ years,38K rated.
Replaced the main gas valve a couple years ago.I start it in November and run until May or so,operates off a thermostat.
They now are about $2400,this heats an add on room and is back up for the main house.Works with-out power.Mine...
I am in no hurry to get started;my front plow is not on yet and only takes five minutes to change from bucket.Rear blade is on if needed.
We got the same in Northern NY.
Own a Kubota tractor but no interested in the RTV.Have owned and used all the major Japanese machine and currently have two Yamahas. They have the best engine braking system in the industry.
Belt life is guaranteed for ten years.
I have a three seater but they do make a six seat Viking.Put many...
Another vote for Tactacam;$130 for camera and $120 for unlimited service for a year.Still on original batteries after 3 month. They do sell a solar panel that works well.
Pictures within two minutes.Video saved on SD card.
Northern NY;just a seat of pants observation;90% of the small tractors less than 100 h.p are Kubotas and the large ag type tractors are primarily JD and some Case/New Holland. This is a dairy type area.Combines are JD and Claas.
My local Yamaha dealer carried the "Massimo" branded side by side;he no longer does;too many problems and lack of parts support.
Buy from the major manufactories and save a lot of head-aches.I have owned Honda,Kawasaki,Suzuki and Yamaha(4) and no problems with any of them.
You get what you...
It is not just tractors;cars ,trucks,ATV's ,boats/motors.Just the way it is right now.I called four ATV dealers before I found one;he had three in the crate and sold them in a week.
Used truck prices are insane;good if you have one to trade if you can find a new one to buy.I was offered almost...
I also have had good luck with ITP Mudlites;had them put on my Viking new at the dealer. They wear well and have good traction.I also went up one tire size.
Cell based trail cameras, lots of makes and models.
I have two Reveal X cameras($130 ea.+$120 year for unlimited service). They work great.Add a solar panel and never worry about batteries.
Browning also makes a good one but a little more expensive.
These will send you a picture and record a...
My main snow removal machine is a L4240 Kubota cabbed with a 8' FEL mounted snow plow and a 7' rear blade;Loaded R1's.Works very well.A similar sized Kioti would work just as well.
Get the SS quick attach and you can use the bucket if needed.
Cut around 2 acres with maybe 100 trees,no problem.I have had to cut Elm and Ash that have died, hate cutting them down.
Planted 20 or so Pine and Spruce and a couple Birches. The trees help hide the house and look good.
For the money the L4060 makes more sense;5HP more and larger tires and front axel.Loader (805) is the same.Air conditioning is going to use a little HP.
I have had my L4240 HSTC for ten years and happy with the power and size.I have run a L4740,almost identical performance.
Relief will trip on "loader lift" if too heavy;will not stall the tractor. If you are trying to "pull to much" it could stall the engine.
If the back gets light ,add more counter weight.
I had a L3130 HST with the Kubota sub-frame and 6' plow;worked pretty good but the FEL mounted (L4240) is a better set-up.A 7' "may-be" a bit much for the L3130;depends how much snow you get.
I had R1's loaded and a rear blade also. The only problem with the factory built plows is that they...
You are correct;very expensive($15K) for a front blower for your machine.
I had a Kubota sub-frame set-up and used a snow plow, you are right must remove to reinstall FEL,not that bad if you have a solid pad to do the exchange on.
I can't justify a blower for my uses,have a FEL mounted plow...
That will work for sure but why not just weld ears to the plate;skip the plow frame all together.
I have a similar set-up I built ten years ago;works very well.Most forget about a cross-over relief;mistake for sure.
I had a L3130 with the 723 loader;don't think there is anything wrong just under-powered for the "load".
I had all I could do to unload a 1K bush-hog off a trailer with mine;loaded tires and 250LB.man on hitch.
We now have German Short-hairs and one English Pointer after having Labs for 30 years.Like them all but that Chocolate male lab we had was probably the smartest and most protective(of my wife) when I was on the road for work.
Owning a uplands preserve we see about every breed of bird dog...
Had about ten acres cleared with a SS and FECON head;I had a lot of clean up after but a great job all in all.I struggled for about ten years with various tractors/bush-hogs;he did more in four days than I had in ten years.Money well spent.
You need to back into some heavy brush to free the clutch(only for 30 seconds or so),tillers;drop to engage for same.Retighten bolts.
I do mine every spring.
The cross over relief is very simple;two ports in and two ports out.The two from the tractor to one side and out to the cylinders.Protects by passing the fluid to the other side if you hit something solid(and you will).
Guessing here but I think the double cylinder would let you stop before fully angling. My snow plow/third function lets me stop before it angles all the way in either direction.
Full angle(30 degrees) is limited to the design of the plow.If you go with the double I would suggest a cross over...
Mine was leaking hydraulic oil,a lot and it happened quick.I was lucky to notice before it ran dry and did a lot of damage.
I have no idea what the repairs are until I get it back.
Still haven't got mine back from the dealer for the same($) problem.
Mine has 1200 hours on it.Nothing you did it just happens.Mine is a cab model also, more labor.
I certainly use mine for snow plowing,my own property and a couple neighbors.Bought a used truck plow for $150+a adapter plate $100 and a little welding.Had the third function already installed for a grapple.
The old truck plow with chain float is better than the "factory tractor" snow plows...
The L3940 is a very nice tractor;I owned a L3130 and currently a L4240.Low hours;one thing I would check is for hydraulic leaks(one major one is the loose pin, under and center of the tractor.)
If it is leaking there it requires a major "split" and expensive.
Dang deer and turkeys are eating mine as fast as they come up!Planted for wild life but wish they would let it grow.
Even eating the corn as it comes out of the ground.Lots of "green around" too.
1,000+ hours on my Bush-Hog branded tiller;broke the chain last year;easy fix and back running as normal. We have "lots" of rocks and it has held up very well.Make sure the slip clutch is serviced every spring.
Purchased new in 2004 and has been used on three tractors.
Just had a local guy killed with one of those;fell off and into a cutter on the back(no seat switch on those 8N or 9N's.)
Spent a lot of hours on them and DON"T miss it at all.
Ya 10mpg if you are lucky;new trucks mostly get double that. The small modern trucks are not that much smaller than full size and don't get much better mileage.
I'll let you know in a week or so when I get mine back!Guessing 2K minimum.
It's nothing you or I did;just happens. So common the dealer keeps the necessary parts in stock.
Going through the same right now on my L4240,lucky I saw it leaking from the pin before any damage. At the dealers right now.
No easy or cheap fix, have to split the tractor$.
We have two tractors so a few doubles, two two bottom plows, two rear blades, two bush-hogs,box blade, potato plow, cultivator, york rake, snow plow and thumb on bucket of one tractor.
Forgot a cultiapacker and grain drill. So 14
I think you are on the right track size wise; The MX's have larger front wheels/tires and less frills than the Grand L's.Depends if you want to stay with the HST or go shuttle shift.
You may want to consider the M7060 or the new M4 series.
Can't help with the back-hoe.
