Drowning in yard waste- how to dispose?

The shredder on my MacKissic TH186 shreds leaves ok but like someone pointed out you have to feed a handfull at a time. And the shreddings dump out the bottom so you have to shovel them up every so often or move the chipper. That is ok for a couple large tree's worth of leaves for garden mulch...

    Temperature gauge pegs out

My 3725 has those same design features. The air tube maintains the same area through the flattened part- it's wider there. A change of shape with the same area has very little effect on air flow. as long as the change is gradual (as it is on mine). The oil cooler has to go in front of the...

    Right to repair laws coming?

Third function from 3 spool valve

Yep you can do that. Dedicated loader valves often have regen so the bucket dumps faster, which a generic three spool won't have. You may or may not want the regen. They also make joystick loader valves with an extra spool and lever for a grapple. If you use a generic 3 spool valve make sure...

Another Smoky Summer in the Northwest

Sometimes even the spring centered valves can stick in an "on" position. The fact that the loader worked for a bit then quit would make me lean more towards air in the system than pump failure. You can run it and cycle the cylinders to work the air out. It shouldn't take many cycles.

If SAE10 is small enough to restrict flow, it'd affect speed but not force. You can find rule of thumb GPM limits for the different fixture size. Flow restriction is a function of diameter and length of the restricted area. So if SAE10 is a restriction, keeping everything else larger will...

3901 HST RPM for engaging PTO vs RPM for operation

As long as the tractor can turn the mower without struggling, the lower the rpm you engage the PTO at the better. It's easier on the clutch. Replacing the clutch is expensive. My tractor (not a Kubota but about the same HP as a 3901) has no problem starting any of my implements at idle.

R4s have advantages if you're going to be operating on slopes. They are wider tires and will often make for a wider track than R1s. They have a square tread profile instead of round so they can support weight on the outside edge better. And they have stiffer sidewalls to help support that...

Buying Advice A tractor for 35 wooded acres

The tasks I do with my tractor include loader and grapple work, mowing, moving dirt with a box blade, running a backhoe, and powering a PTO chipper. The only task where I need more than 37hp is the chipper when I'm chipping larger material.

New Tractor Company as if we didn't have enough

It's a lot easier to reduce emissions of a small number of large power plants than to do it on a large number of individual vehicles. While that does not help CO2 (until plants start doing carbon capture) it does reduce the other emissions. We're also getting a lot of solar power now. Solar...

New Tractor Company as if we didn't have enough

Running an electric tractor (or car for that matter) will require some adapting to how the machine works. Just like running a fuel vehicle does. The difference is that we have already adapted to running fuel vehcles. Though the threads about what's the right warm up time, idling vs shutting...

Time to convert from small engine to battery tools?

I have something like that only it's got three blades. I got it from my Stihl dealer years ago. When I went back for more blades they said the company had gone out of business. Something about some blades came loose and went flying. As Ultrarunner says, can't use it when the grass is dry as...

    Ford Production

There's still a lot of chip fabs in the US. The us military has been on a COTS drive for a while especially for non sensitive systems, purely to lower costs. Some of those may allow foreign made chips. The US government is aware that we need to increase our domestic chip production for...

    Need Tractor/Truck Recommendation

If you can do the routine maintenance on cars and trucks a tractor isn't much harder. Mostly I needed larger tools and oil containers. If you do the routine maintenance, you don't need a dealer close by. Mine's 3 hours away one way. I've been there twice in four years. Once to test drive...

Would a check valve work and if so, where should I put it?

Since the same amount of fluid is leaving the tank as is entering it, the only pressure build up is from the air above the fluid heating up and fluid expansion from heat. Not going to get a lot of pressure from that especially compared to hydraulic pressures. I think Oldnslo's explanation is a...

    ROPS modification

I'd make or buy u-bolts or clamps rather than welding on the ROPS.

    Which WoodMaxx Chipper?

Around here a working commercial trailer chipper is at least $12k no matter how many hours or how beat up. And that's for a 6" unit with less HP than my tractor has at the PTO. Right now I can't find anything under $24k. Maybe it's different where you or the OP is but here every guy working...

    Which WoodMaxx Chipper?

I have 78 hours on my WM-8H, on a Branson with 32hp at the PTO. I chip brush and trees- live oak, Madrone, tan oak, fir, big leaf maple. One drawback with the 8H is that the hydraulic flow control is for 20gpm while the system is 3 gpm. That makes the control have a very narrow effective...

List all the Cars/Motorcycles You've Owned

It takes good technique and confidence to kick start a big bore two stroke in tennis shoes (the Husky video). I used to show off by doing that until I made a mistake. I didn't break anything but my foot hurt for weeks.
