2014 GM trucks recalled. DON'T DRIVE!

I'm not going to argue over truck brands. I'm not even going to defend Ford dealerships. But I will say that I've found a **** good one. If anybody in the North Texas area is shopping, it's Holiday Ford in Whitesboro.

I don't listen to any salesman about anything technical because the majority haven't a clue about their own products let alone the competition. This is true across the board of all manufacturers.

You've peaked my interest though in the service manager. Is this a Ford service manager?
Lab rat Eco boom? Are these engines exploding? I like to stay on top of this segment and haven't heard of too many engine failures.

Personally I have had one salesman at dealer in Wawa and both the sales and service managers at Highland Ford tell me to stay away from the Eco-Boost. They told me if I were to buy an F-150 they would stay with the 5.0. Also told me the Eco's aren't getting the mileage they advertise.

Being that I work on the neighbors Fords, I keep up on his last purchase, an 2012 EB. After reading about the water in the CAC issue that is questionably still ongoing, and now some cam chain issues, I would probably go with a 5.0 instead.

OK, Why did they say to stay away from the Eco Boost aside from the gas mileage?

The thing about the Ecoboost is I see a lot of them around my area, but I rarely see any of them doing any work or pulling anything substantial besides a small utility trailer or something. The farmers tend to prefer the V8 F-150's and V8 GM's. You'll see a good many gas 3/4 ton's around here and diesels also. That's not saying the Ecoboost is a bad engine or anything, it's just not that popular with the heavy towing crowd around my area. There's a good many of them driving around town but that's about it. The main reason I was interested in the 5.0 is I've seen what that engine can do and how reliable it is, plus it sounds sweet. I kept laughing to myself when I was looking at trucks at the Ford dealerships and how they couldn't believe I was looking for the 5.0 and not an Ecoboost.

Personally, why would someone buy a 1/2 ton pickup to pull heavy trailers with in the first place? Power is one thing but load ratings are another.

See if you all feel the same way about that GM junk after 10 pm tonight on CNBC.

Last night came and went. The sun still came up. The Denali and the Hummer still run perfectly like every other day..The point?

My local dealerships are all awful. I go 50 miles either way to buy.

Now they are building a new Ford and Honda dealership on the grounds of the old Anderson Indiana GM plant. I will give them each a fair shake.

My father's Eco with 3.73 gears has averaged 18.3 mpg since new. 30,000 miles. This is everything, towing included. My uncles 3.55 gear Eco has averaged 21 mpg since new with 21,000 miles.

Did you watch it? Not saying the others are not doing the same but GM has themselves in a big hole. 83 billion in repairs to make and got caught knowingly covering up issues for 10 plus years.

Well see how they make out. I think they will be belly up again in 3 years or less.
