Mr Cub Tech
First you haven't answered lucysdad if there is a problem.
Second Before I made this reply, I called the servicing dealer and asked them to read this thread to see if any of my facts were wrong. They said they thought everything I said was factual. They also said they see me at least 3 times a year to buy filters. I doubt if they were very happy about you saying the injector pump was installed incorrectly and did this damage. And yes they said they had it rebuuilt and installed.
Third. I did locate the mechanic who did the first engine swap. I am going to try to get in touch with him today and see if he will tell everyone what he did or didn't do. Then like you say we will know the whole story.

Cubhater,

First, I don't have to answer anyone. Plus he answered his own questions.

Second, we heard from the dealer yesterday.
Did the dealer state that this was a "defect" in any way? NO. Does Cub warranty 10 year old products? NO.
Does any manufacturer warranty a 10 year old product? No.

So lets see here you purchased this tractor in 1996. Issues arose about a year later and Cub Cadet covered the repairs. A few other issues came up around that time and Cub covered them.
Then you used the tractor trouble free until 2003/2004.

You claim the engine and pumps were rebuilt. The dealer is no longer a Cub dealer. You claimed you rebuilt the pumps. The dealer serviced the unit 6 years ago. According to our records and your statements. 6 years ago... You also stated that you performed the repairs. But then you turn around and say No you didnt a dealer did. Well who did the last service? You never sent Cub anything other than RT45 &Valley.

SO who did the last service on the engine and when?

When the tractor showed up at the dealer the engine/crankcase/cylinder#1 was full of fuel. SOmeone also attempted to crank the motor. Which in turn bent and damaged some internal parts.

So who did the last service and when?

Yes I did turn the motor over. But I turned it over before the injector pump was incorrectly installed. You still didn't answer lucysdad's question. Oh I forgot you don't have to answer to anybody. CYA

( Well, the factory warranty is only for so long. No manufacturer is going to cover a 10 year old unit with the amount of hours that you have. A lot of things go into consideration for out of warranty coverage. However it sounds like yours is beyond the limits. Just like anything else you buy, once the warranty is up.. service and repair is your responsibility.

Besides, most of the issues that you have stem from the Mitsu engine, not Cub Cadet. )

Now where have i heard this line before?

Cub PowerCraft same thing. both are MTD junk in my book.

( I have a 1996 7235. Within 2 years of ownership my tractor broke the ears of the motor due to the tractor flexing in the middle. This was supposed to be remedied by a modification installed by Cub. The motor breaks where the front and the rear of the tractor are bolted together. This also bent the clutch which was replaced. This happened at about 300 hrs. At 1000 hrs the injector pump went. At 1035 hrs it statret smoking. The shop said it needed a complete rebuild. It also needed a new clutch. I know of several other people in the area who are experiencing this problem. Any one else out there. Also you can not buy a short block, you must purchase these pieces seperately and as you know cub rapes you piece by piece. If I could afford to I would change brands. )

If I could afford to I would change brands.
========*****
Which probably would not help you if it turns out that the brand you changed to also happens to be made by MTD.

Mr Cubtech
Please let me introduce myself. I am the technician who replaced cubhater's block when his flanges broke. I'm somewhat disappointed to see you pointing fingers at everyone. Its too bad you and the other dsm's will not accept the fact that the connection between the engine and transmission on these tractors is of extremely poor design. However I suppose its probably company policy. The fact that a reinforcing kit was created to "correct" this problem is proof enough that a serious issue existed. I had the displeasure of installing this kit on cubhaters tractor. The weight of the tractor just sitting still caused so much flex of the "sheet metal plate" between the engine and transmission that I had to jack up under the center of the tractor just to make it even possible to install the kit. The flex also causes a terrible misalignment in the clutch. Causing it to over engage at the top and underengage at the bottom resulting in "premature" failure of the clutch. I will agree that the reinforcing kit needs to be retorqued often. The extreme forces exerted in that area would overcome almost any reinforcing you could possibly design. I will address the other issues in the near future.

Didn't you know that The Mechanic and not the manufacturer is responsible for design flaws and product defects???
