I don't know what your manual says, but here is a quote from the warranty manual for my truck.

"It is your responsibility to make sure that all of the scheduled maintenance is performed and that the materials used meet Ford engineering specifications. Failure to perform scheduled maintenance as specified in the Service Guide will invalidate warranty coverage on parts affected by the lack of maintenance."

Again, My manual is different and again, if you THINK using Amsoil will void some warranty email or call them. Or better yet look at there website since it is all spelled out.

I do not work for them but I have seen the same incorrect statements 1,000,000 times and Amsoil has too. So please email them if you think it does void them. I know what the answer is but again get IT from them....same old debate and I can see nothing has changed.

Just a comment from a personal experience I had. I owned a P30 GM (StepVan) with a 6.5L Diesel which woffed it's cookies to the tune that a connecting rod was hanging out the side of the oil pan. When it was towed to the local GM dealer, I wanted to verify that I was covered under warranty before they started work. I did not have all the "regular service" performed there & was told that I needed to provide documentation that the services were done on a timely basis. After I had provided the appropriate paperwork, it still took 4 days for them to get authorization from GM to proceed with warranty repair. When I signed the invoice to process the claim under warranty it was $11,380.00 & I gave them a cheque for $100.00. The service manager of the dealership told me that he had warranty claims denied because the vehicle owner could not prove that the vehicle was serviced regularly. This is what happened to me for what it's worth.......

Well I do not know what “documentation” is consisted of. Is it the old sales receipt deal or some slip form a garage the shows you we billed for something?

We all “hear stories” of the dreaded “serviced regularly” but what is it? Not changing air filter, gas filter, glow plug broke off, did not add SCA to coolant and toasted the internal engine?, did not change coolant at all. Not change the oil at some interval is getting really old, like using dino oil.

This is not oil related but so far if your engine has issues, 99.999999 time it is not the oil if you use it per the instructions of the oil. Also every warranty issue I have EVER had never asked me to provide anything. Car dealers will pull anything to blame you.

The last time I heard on an engine issue first hand was at work, my co-worker blew his 3,000 mile NEW rebuilt engine. And GM could not believe it and tried to pin it on the guy. Too bad once the oil test came back there was major metals in it form the bearings. GM screwed up.

I agree with Slowrev. I feel like I'm trying to argue that water is wet. I personally know over 600 auto dealers. Each and every one will tell you that you will void your warranty by going over 20,000 or more between oil changes. Period. No exceptions.

That's the great thing about America. I know what I am saying is pure fact and that you choose to not believe me. And you know what? I have absolutely zero desire to say bad things about you, or threaten you with a car bomb or something stupid. What a boring place this would be if we all had to agree on everything! I really have no problem with a dialogue where we do not agree. We are allowed that in America. If you had an engine blow after going 20k miles with the same oil in the vehicle, and you could by chance pursuade a manufacturer to pay for your claim, I'd only say that you have great powers of pursuasion...and likely try to hire you. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

No hard feelings, and I will not even doubt that you could find an oil analysis stating that the oil is still useful. We use Blackstone Labs, and with certain engines, standard motor oil will be nearly worthless after 5000 miles. Without saying more, I'll just say that I also have no doubt that you would void any manufacturer's warranty or any extended warranty you may have purchased by not changing your oil sooner. But, hey, it's your money and your choice. And, if I had to guess, you likely don't have a money tree growing in your backyard that you can shake to get all the money you need. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif If you do, can I buy a sprout from you? /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

No insults, no underlying smugness; we just do not agree on this particular issue. Nothing more, nothing less. But as I said earlier, that's okay. Really. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I went to the Amsoil link you provided, it says you have to follow your equipment manufacturers warranty guidelines. It also says Amaoil is only responsible for replacing their defective oil and nothing else.

For what it's worth.. the 'silver' series extended warranty I purchased on my GMC yukon stated in the flyspec print on one of the 3 or 4 double sided legal lenght papers that you would have to provide proof of oil changes.. i.e. receipts showing oil changes from certified shop if engine warranty issues were being made claim to.

Dargo- Email Amsoil here since you think you are right. Please take 5 minutes and do since I would like to see how they reply to you. Please prove me and the other Amsoil users wrong.

Again this is the old –time debate that many cars dealer think they are correct. Please email Amsoil for this legality issue. I have never heard of anything using Amsoil per there directions and had problems. Most times they do not follow there process or there are clueless.

Instead of doing the “I know I am right deal”, email the people that promote this item.

You like use Blackstone I see. They are okay, but nickel-and-dime you for everything you want tested.

So far 4 cars, BX22, GSXR1100, ML420, parents cars with ZERO problems. My brother is a judge and we always talk about this. It is a very hard topic to prove since it is not spelled out in the manuals.

I've got to hand it to amsoil from a marketing standpoint. They are in a good 'place'.

1, they sell an oil that they claim is good for xxx,xxx miles, etc.. and then get you to pay for that quality to the tune of a much higher oil price.
2, but then say that you have to follow your manufacturers spec to not void the warranty.... so if your vehicle says to change every 3/5K miles.. then it appears you are buying alot of expensive motor oil. Sounds like great marketing to me. And i don't doubt their oil is bad either.. they just have managed to have their cake and eat it too!
