What qualifies as a subcompact is also debatable and can depend on who you talk to. In this "class" I like the Mahindra Maxes, LS, Kioti CK2510. Some would argue that some of these are not SCUTS. I couldn't (and won't) argue either way. I know some are far away, but might be worth the drive to see what others might offer. Once you buy it, your need to visit the dealer should be very minimal. My first choice would probably be the Mahindra Max28XL for the combination of HP and lift.

One thing I always noticed is the bigger main stream brands (Kubota, Deere, etc) seem to play it safe and keep the max lift lower than the smaller brands. I do question how a 1500lbs tractor lifts 1200+ pounds safely in the air and still is stable? Not that the loaders can't do it, just you need to use a LOT of extra caution if you want to move that much weight with that small of a machine.

No all subcompacts are not equal. Kubota invented the subcompact tractor, everything else is just trying to copy it:stirpot:

Apples-to-oranges? Not even close.

The JD 1025R is 102.6" long with 3pt (87.6 w/o 3pt), has a wheelbase of 57.1", and weighs 1,444lbs.

An LS J2023 is 103" long with 3pt, has a wheelbase of 59", and weighs 1,565lbs.

An MF GC2400 is 97.6 w/o 3pt, has a wheelbase of 57.1" and weighs 1,433lbs.

A Mahindra eMax 25 is 102.4' with 3pt, wheelbase not listed , and weighs 1,540lbs.

I'm not seeing the big apples-to-oranges differences you suggest. They look pretty darned comparable to me. In fact, the difference between the JD and your Kubota is bigger than the JD to any of the three others I listed.

Ok...whatever, I tell the OP what go and LOOK at them, SIT on them, DRIVE them around the dealer lots, then tell me how YOU stack them up against each other. I did just that, and I will tell you that the Boomer 30, and from what I am told it is a LS machine and the smallest one that New Holland makes/has/whatever. And that machine felt like a larger machine/more powerful machine then the others I talked about.

I honestly just went to the LS site, and looked at their models, a J looks like the Boomer 30, I guess it could be something different, but if it is the same (basic) machine it sure is a bigger machine when my butt sat in it.

Stats are just that stats, I am just giving you a real world butt in seat with the Boomer 30 (what I sat on) the most close LS dealer was too far away for me. And IF that New Holland is built on the same guts as the LS J, then my butt test tells me that it was a bigger machine....sure felt like it.

I agree....in your words the bigger main stream brands are bigger targets.....so they are going to take great care in how they present their machines. In this era where Ford gets sued because you backed over your kid....and will lose, there are precautions you have to take. With a tractor....I can only imagine the legal department. I have only had mine 3 months and I already know I do stupid things on it. Heck I would bet the first words out of lawyers mouth would be....did he wear the seat belt?

You made claims that some of the machines mentioned were bigger, and some were smaller. Size and weight aren't opinions.

The Boomer 30 is an LS G series, not a J Series. The J series is a Boomer 20 or 25...much smaller.

New Holland/LS do have models smaller than a boomer 30. The boomer 30 is a CUT.

My dealer is a phone call, a UPS delivery and 50 miles away including having delivery of my replacement door to my cab (mowing a rock hit it and shattered it) in 3 business days. Was the UPS delivery guy happy? No. But I did help him get it out of his truck.

When I bought my Branson I shopped all the popular colors and settled on it. I didn't find similarities to suit me in the brands.

I think they are all "equal enough" that you can shop based on personal preference (like which one you like sitting on the best).

However, looking at the specs that Gman provided ... hard to argue gaining almost 15" in lift height (LS over the JD). That is substantial. I had an LS R4047 (47 HP) and had no complaints EXCEPT that the loader was substantially lower than competing brands in that particular category. I upgraded to a cab, and my Massey has nearly 18" more lift height, and it makes a big difference (for me anyhow). That might not matter to everyone, but I use my loader alot and it mattered to me.

OP, also check out the Massey SCUT's... they seem to get lots of likes, and are competitively priced. Someone recently had a good comparison thread between the Massey & Kubota SCUT's with loader & backhoe options (pics included)
