Autozone.....Really..??

I believe these "comply with robber" policies are what keep robberies happening. It is way too easy. If there were a higher percentage of people like this that would retaliate, there wouldn't be nearly as many robberies.

If this robber had gotten away with this, chances are he was going to go out again (likely even that same night) and do it again. This one may have made him sit down and think. Maybe not stop him, but he probably didn't go out again that night.

AZ employees will fit right in at NAPA.

Can't say that I agree with this exactly... I have never been able to walk into an autozone and feel that I could good decent advice from a knowledgeable person. Mostly I see high school kids that that because they put a cold air intake on their rice burner they are mechanics. This is true for advance and o'reilly as well. Napa, Car quest, and lee auto parts usually have experienced car parts people. I would go (in the past) to autozone because I already knew what I wanted and what I was buying, not usually looking for advice- just the part. Also because they have better hours than napa.

I agree with you Mike....Just imagine if we did the same thing with Terrorists...so instead of passengers on a plane rushing a terrorist ...they would just comply...How many buildings and lives would we lose...You are right.

Even the Sheriff said he was disappointed by the termination & considers McLean a hero. The sherrif also states that AZ has sent a message to robbers. We're open for business. Come take our $$$$$

For dicussion:
Robber shoots the manager dead, and makes away with the $2000 loot. I'm sure the manager's life is worth more than $2000 to his friends and familly.

When I stated " comply with robbers", do just that, the odds are stacked in his favour. I'd rather give this robber $2000 and I make home to my familly. That doesn't mean look the other way. If you can do something by all means.

Go back to my original post. I stated comply with demands, its just money. When he threatens a life, he'd better be ready to pay with his own life. All bets are off at that point.

Idiotic decision! Guys a hero in my book good for him I would be proud to have him as my friend any day. Fact I probably would have quit the job over it had my buddy been fired. I hate company's that dont have "grey" areas on policy only black and white it is ridiculous.

The article stated this happened in York County Virginia. I'm sure residents of Arizona don't take crime lightly as well.
I suspect that AZ was intended to be an abbreviation for AutoZone, not for the state of Arizona.

You stand a better chance of going home alive if you just hand over the cash.

maybe this robber had grown up with parents that would let him do whatever he wanted because it was EASIER than having to be confrontational. He was used to getting away with anything because there were never any consequences for his actions... just sayin

I know a lot of parents like this and am curious to see how their children grow up.

maybe threatening the robber with a "time out" would have been a better way to deal with this.
