Broken F150

I've seriously wanted to buy a couple Ford trucks over the past several years, but my dealers around me are just terrible. Thought of branching out and buying from a dealer far away but then wondered how I'd be treated if I needed a warranty claim or recall, I'd be left at the mercy of my bad local dealers. Funny thing is you see a good many Fords around here so maybe I'm just hard to deal with.lol GM always seems to do right by me though and that's really the only reason they've kept my business.

I've always called it the "blower motor resistor" they are usually around $20 at the parts store and are sometimes in an inconvenient spot. The blower motor in my 04 F150 started making odd noises at around 30K miles and at that time Ford wanted $150 for the motor. A friend had to have the blower motor changed in his Toyota FJ Cruiser and was told the job would have cost $3K if it had not been under warranty due to the sheer amount of interior disassembly required.

Your very right. It is a blower resistor. I have no clue why I typed voltage regulator. I guess I was already on track for describing it's functionality. My brain is already fried for the week from working on cars. Can't wait for drag racing this weekend so I can work on more cars, ha. At least a dragster doesn't have a blower resistor OR voltage regulator to have to mess with

I don't follow drag racing but the fellow hauling this asked to park it on my property while he went Hog hunting last week. I know they held the Gator Nationals(?) up the road a ways from the house

What ever happened to a 8' bed supercab?? Seems only a GMC has this now. What gives?

Golly, that's a lot of vehicles. I've only had one truck since 1997 and two cars since 1987!

I had more before 1997. Only one Ford in that bunch.

Chris, Would that control module going be the cause of a fan only working on high? On the way out? A friend has a 2010 F150, fan only works on high.

Yes. 95% of the time they short out to HIGH only. Mine was the other 5% and did not work at all but could see the little bars for the fan speed raise and lower on the dash as I pressed the fan + and - button.

They have two different modules. Mine has dual zone climate control so it used the module I got, which is the most expensive. The other type is for the old school style that has maybe 4 fan speeds on a rotary dial. It's about half the price.

With Ford if you take the last 8 of the VIN they can pull the vehicles build sheet and take the guess work out of it.

Whaaaat? And you don't even follow drag racing, lol. Any drag racer would have creamed his jeans at the sight of that. I have no clue what is in that trailer, surely not the car that Tony Schumacher races. He's a top fuel dragster driver. They roll around in some pretty serious rigs. If so, you had (I would guess) well over half a mil sitting in your yard, and the fastest machine on the planet (one of). You should have asked for they keys!

And for whoever the ford lover is in here, you should check out the hemi in this thing, haha. Most guys are running gm blocks, actually much bigger displacement than a top fuel engine. Not allot of fords, at least not in my area. But like I said, surely he didn't just park an 8000 hp car in some random person's yard...

Since you don't follow the sport, here's some interesting facts. Puts mine to shame big time:

Chris - I know you tend to do maintenance early, just a friendly PSA for everybody.....

Check your Cabin Air Filters at least once a year, more often if you work the truck off-road.

If the CA Filter plugs up, you can BBQ the motor control board/resistor, and in some cases the blower too. Some vehicles (brands) will tolerate this situation better than others.
