From the sounds of your very strong dislike of the new BX24, you must have spent a considerable amount of time on the new tractor.

Please list, from your vast experience, what the differences are that you don't like.

Firsthand knowledge like this is very helpfull, as opposed to some fool spouting off when he has no firsthand experience with something.

a "thumb" is a device that attaches unto a backhoe arm above the bucket and acts as a mechanism that allows the operator to pick up rocks, logs etc., - very neat idea. look at the woods site for an example

No question, it is just the LA302 loader I was arguing against. If you could get the LA352 that tractor would be fine for your intended use.

The dealr from Michigan just called me. Apparenthly he has a client who wants to trade his 2005 7610 w/302 (150 hrs) and 3 month old 4672BH in on a L series. I can buy this for US$17500 - serviced, tires filled, tooth bar with a block heater. I know it's a bit pricy and only has the 302 loader but to me it's still much cheaper then what else I have had available to me. I think I'll buy it

Life requires compromise . So long as the overall package makes sense to you that sounds fine. I guess the only other issue is whether you can tolerate waiting a bit longer for something else to come along. I was in a similar situation a year ago and got my CK20 HST with FEL with 28hrs on it as well as new rear remotes and new BH for $14,800. Kubota's hold their value a bit better so maybe that is an equivalent deal.

I miss spoke...I meant old post. You were responding to a post made last week or earlier and there had been several developments in the thread since then that made your reply redundant.

Check out the TBN classified:

04 Kubota 7510HSD with LA302 loader. R4 tires, folding ROPS, 2 range 4x4, loader has scratches from use, but tractor looks brand new. Stored in garage since new. Can send pictures by request. $11,500

The 7510 would be just as useful as the 7610 for your purposes I think.

Ohio ain't all that much further than Michigan.

I have never owned or used a BX23 so I would not feel qualified to comment on the differences. Not enough to say I don't like it anyway. I did however own a BX2230 before my BX24. I do feel very qualified to comment on tractor, loader and MMM, just not the backhoe.

There are many changes that make the new BX superior. A few, I acknowledge, are not so great.

If you really do care, which I don't think you do, I would gladly list the differences for you.

Thanks for the comparison Island Tractor. Your right, Ohio is not much further then Michigan at the lower end of the state but I am on the far north end and only 20 miles from the dealer I have dealt with.

My deal on the used B7610 w/302 & BH died as the guy's wife wouldn't let him buy the bigger tractor.

I was just outside checking out some of the rocks that I would like to move about.There are about 15 rocks a bit larger then the ones pictured on this link I found on TBN. This member has a B7610 w352

FEL Rock Moving

It occurred to me that that this guy's rocks may not be able to be lifted or a least moved easily by even a B7800 w/LA402 loader. I am not sure what rocks like this weigh but it may be better for me to get a real big backhoe into do that work and buy the 7610 w/302 or 352.

Any ideas on what rocks like this might weigh?

Sorry to hear your deal fell apart. The few really big rocks I and my neighbor have moved were done by pushing/rolling them with the FEL. WAY to big to lift (wouldn't even fit in the bucket) but they easily roll, though if your only option is uphill, that could be a prob depending.

I think some guys have rigged carriers/scoops on the 3PT to carry some larger rocks than their FEL could handle. You can also just drag rocks or push them with the FEL if you cannot lift them.
