Kubota BX24
I've decided on the BX24, and there are 2 dealers within 28 miles of me. One has quoted 15k even plus tax, the other quotes 15.9k plus tax. I see that you guys seem to stress the importance of a "good" dealer...what criteria do you use to determine this.

15 K is a good price. I'd go for the lower price and if you had to you can bring the tractor to either dealer for service.

Where did you get the 15 K price?

Do they charge for delivery and transportation in the event warranty work is necessary.
How long have they been in business.
Walk around the shop, is it clean, do they keep units inside.
Some places are more Ag focused. What about residential units like the BX
Family or chain facility. Is Bota their only focus

Take a step back and think of the big picture.

dont know your importance of use of this machine, but 900.00 is not a lot to pay for a great shop, great dealer, and someone to take care of you if you need a loaner etc. I gladly paid it for my first one, and second one.

check out the places real good.

I called the dealer that I talked with first, to allow them to match the 15k price, but they wouldn't budge. I felt like I owed them the opportunity, since they were very helpfull. The dealer I purchased from is Moore's Farm Equip. in Hendersonville, NC. The wife and I drove out there tonight, after hours, to check things out. They are a much larger dealer, and about the same distance away from our home. The dealer closes at 5pm, we got there at 6pm, and they were still there taking care of customers. It's a family business, and the son (about my age<46>) spent some time showing us different rear scrape blades and PHDs. I was impressed to say the least.
Free delivery, which will be Monday. They suggested loading the rear tires (free)...(do I need/want this?)
I offered to pick the tractor up with my own trailer tomorrow afternoon, be was told that he would rather wait until Monday, deliver it, and go over the controls with me...I'm sure I had "newbie" written all over me.
The dealer lot had about 2 dozen of the 7510 size tractors, 9 BX series,, and a dozen or so big'uns with cabs (see newbie above) and row upon row of implements. the showroom was well stocked with a little bit of everything, the outside shop door was open...so I had a peek...it was fairly clean, and well organized. We left feeling very good about the dealership.
Finally tally...

Oooops!...I also picked out a 5' rear scrape blade! ($259.00)

Driveway dressing will be it's first job, then creating some drainage trenches, then backfilling the sunken area behind the garage, then create a short driveway to the upper side of the garage, then bury some drain pipe so I can fill in the gulleys, then pull some small stumps, then build that artificial pond below the arched bridge (wife may move this up the list)...somewhere in there the briars are gonna start growing and I'll need a bush hog!

If you plan to use the tractor on your property only, your homeowners insurance policy may cover the tractor already, mine did! Check with your agent/insurance company.

Looks like a great deal, you will be counting the hours till Monday. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I financed 2/3 of the price thru Kubota, they required the insurance, but they were cheaper than I could add to my policy...also required "upset" (?) coverage...I assume that's rollover protection.

BTW...the wife took one look at the BX24 tonight and said..."oh!...that's cute!"...I made her go sit in the truck. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Snal,

Interesting I put down $1k on my $12.6K BX2200 and financed the rest via Kubota. Dealer just asked for my homeowners policy number. That was in 3/02 perhaps things have changed. Anyway, enjoy!

If I did not have a cab for the BX I would really have to think hard about a new BX24. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif I looked at one a few months ago and they really have made a lot of nice improvements. Then again no way I could get the CFO let me do it. /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif.. well it was nice thinking about it for a few secs. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Do not let the wife drive it too much she will be taking your seat time away from you./forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I doubt the wife will ever grace the seat of this thing, she barely got comfortable on our ATVs before we sold them after 4 years of use.
I went to the dealer this morning, to sign my life away, and drop off the downpayment check. Got my "free" Bota hat and t-shirt. I drooled a bit over the 3030 and the 7510, but they are just too big for my use right now. The BX will make room for them eventually, but the BX should be all I'll ever need.

I never got a reply about "loading" the tires...is there any reason why I shouldn't have this done? I have alot of places where I'll need to remove the BH (for tight turning) and use the FEL. The dealer seems to load the tires on all BX's.

Regarding tire loading, on page 52 of the BX-24 manual it states: While BT601 backhoe is installed on the tractor, liquid ballast in the rear tires should be removed.

Not sure why that is, but something you might want to ask the dealer about.

Thanks for the heads up!

I run loaded rear tires on my BX23 without any problems. The dealer only loaded them to about 3/4's of what they normally would have done on a BX2230/2350. I believe each tire carries an additional 125lbs of ballast each.
The additional weight of the BH compresses the rear tires somewhat and if they contain too much ballast the tire could be damaged as the fluid has to have someplace to go.

The additional weight of the loaded tires allows me to work the FEL with the BH dismounted without needing any additional ballast.

I paid 14200 for mine.
If you didn't buy from the dealer you will probably be put on the back burner while he takes care of his customers first.

Don't fret over LBrowns post at 14.2... I've been on the forum a long time and he has been challenged to show any kind of proof of this, or to state that he got it used, and he never responds... If you got quoted 15K... thats a fantastic deal, I wouldn't even look back. My BX23 last year was ~17.2 with the big mower deck, so that probably means mid to high 15's without. That was the best I could do in NY/PA area by a few hundred. You're getting a lower price on an improved and better model a year later. Why look back?

Ditto on LBrown59. All he comes here for is to stir up hornets.

The issue on filling the tires has been debated so much, that the reason not many people have responded is that they've exhausted themselves on it. Much good info has been written, though, and you can find all these previous posts by going to the main search page, select Kubota Owning and Operating, set time frame to "all posts", and search for terms like "tires filled", "tire foam", "beet juice". You'll find useful info.
