On my rocky, and rutted woodland trails, etc. I am more concerned about the low ground clearance with the Kioti subframe, and the extra storage space that would require. You are right though, a Woods 7 ft hoe would probably go on there well, and give me the 4pt mount that I like for installation, and storage, as well as more clearance. How did you find mounting, and dismounting the Kioti subframe to be compared to the Woods hoe you are using now?

I don't recall ever hitting anything with the subframe of my CK20/BH2365 despite doing most of my work clearing brush and stumps and rocks etc. I certainly wouldn't be concerned about hurting anything (other than the rock or stump) if I had hit bottom as the subframe is very stout. I don't recall exactly but it only sticks down about 3 inches or so and only on the sides. The tractor has enough clearance that for practical purposes it was not really an issue at all.

Regarding the Woods subframe vs the Kioti: I got used to the Kioti and found it pretty easy to line up. I would guess that after the first couple of times it took only 10-15 minutes tops. The Woods is neat but does still take me longer to hook up as you need to get all four points lined up well at the same time in order to make the connection. With the Kioti you could position the front of the subframe before the rear and it seemed to me less fussy about perfect alignment so it was a bit easier. Of course I got used to the Kioti BH after a couple of years and I have only put the Woods on a few times so far and that should get easier with time.

Yeah. Gotta give the Giants credit but it would have been more interesting for the Patriots to take on Green Bay rather than repeat against NY.

Islandtractor, Yes, I found with my BX, which has a very similar backhoe mount that taking extra time to line the tractor up with the bottom two mount points made things mounting go much more quickly. I also found that keeping the bottom two mounting points very clean made a huge difference. Stuff tends to get on them when the hoe is off. Once the bottom two points are seated I could use the stabilizers, and carefully use the boom swing to make fine adjustments on the alignment as I pivoted the backhoe up to line up with the top two points, well before they came in contact. Of course you are dealing on a whole different scale with your new backhoe than I was with the BX. I found the key was to have the bottom two points well seated before ever tipping the hoe up to meet the tractor.

Good to hear that the subframe was never an issue!

Chuck, what I find with the Woods is that I need to line up all four points simultaneously whereas with the Kioti I could do the front first then fiddle with the rear part of the mount later. It may be my inexperience with the new BH as the dealer could only show me once and I've done it myself only a few times since. It is just a bit tricky to get both the height perfectly lined up and the mount perfectly vertical so I can then back the tractor into the slots/pin mounts. I can use the hydraulics on the hoe obviously but it is not particularly natural to be standing next to the thing while doing fine adjustments on pitch, height etc. Bottom line though is that I did not find the Kioti subframe set up to be difficult at all. It does take up more space as the subframe juts out about six feet but otherwise I haven't yet found any major advantage to the Woods 4pt design.

Sounds like the new Kubota "65" BH for the B series is a nice unit. Seems to dig about 4 inches deeper than the Kioti BH2465 but has about 4 inches shorter reach and doesn't swing 180 degrees like the Kioti. I'd imagine that in use they are pretty much equivalent. I'd also look at the Woods BH70x if I were buying in that size range again. Nice that they have the thumb option on the Kubota now too (though I have that on my Woods and I haven't been so impressed that it is a critical add on...mostly because I have a grapple on the front of the tractor so I just use that for things that folks with just a bucket would be hard pressed to handle).

A couple of thoughts I have led me to pose a couple of additional questions. Does anybody know whether or not a CK20 w a backhoe will take out the header over a 7' garage door finished opening? I shall assume the BX24 will pass through with lowered ROPS.

Now let's talk trailors. I can buy a new 6 1/2' X 14' dual axle 7000# rated equipment trailer for $1800. I like the 14' length due to the way it saves space when it's in the garage. This trailor is for transporting backhoe and
FEL while mounted on tractor only for the CK20 with a KL120 loader and 54" FEL + a curved boom KB2465 backhoe. I believe i can store the 14' trailer much easier than a 16'. I'm thinking the CK20 weighs close to a ton and the addition of the backhoe and FEL should bring weigh figure up to probably 3500 to 3600 lbs. and for the BX24close to 3000 lbs or close?

I think you'd need to lower the ROPS on the CK20 but I have a big ole barn so never had to worry about that. I am 6'5" and the ROPS was well over my head when standing. No problem with the BH though. I'd think you could drive a BX24 TLB into a garage without lowering the ROPS but that is just my impression.

I think you are pretty close on the weight of the CK20 TLB. I'm going to guess that you have overestimated the BX24 by 500lbs or so.

I never trailered my CK20 TLB but I did look into getting a trailer and was going to get a 16 footer. I know there are some guys on TBN who do trailer the CK20 TLB so they will probably pipe in if they see your question. You might also search on CK20 and trailer in the archives.

I bought an 18' beaver tail trailer for my ck20. It fits very well. I think some one one here, i think our good friend from NH with the CK20 with the cab trailers his on a 14'. You just have to turn the backhoe to one side. I can get mine into the garage with the backhoe on, I just have to fold the rops down, and I think that the height of the garage is less than seven foot. check the specs on kioti's site it says what the height is with the rops.
