I was fine with my BX22 until I started wanting to add attachmets, and bought another 10 acres of woods with really rough logging roads. I had to make a decision then to either buy attachments suited to the low lift of my BX ( the new ones lift much higher) or consider getting a larger tractor. About that time I had the chance to sell the tractor at a good price for me, so I did. Now, I'm back to looking again. I had been holding off a little to see what the new smaller B series Kubotas would look like. I've attached a link here to some early info. I'm the same age as you, so I'm looking a little at how easy the attachments are to put on, and take off. I sure do like the 4point Kubota backhoe mount like I had on the BX, and the hoe takes much less storage space. In my area, pricing between the small B's, and Kioti's are close, and in some cases the Kioti's are more. You lose some loader lift height, and weight capacity, and a little on the backhoe. You gain quite a bit of clearance under the tractor with the backhoe mounted, and overall length, as well as nimbleness. I am also looking at the Kioti CK20 too.

Hey Chuck,

Thanks for the link. I had not seen those new B's. I was just at the local Kubota / New Holland dealer last Thursday or so when I test fired that great little BX24. I thought the row of old 7510's looked a bit stodgy when lined up with the sloped down snoots on the BX and those flashy New Hollands. Now Kubota has made some larger versions adopting the hood lines of the BX. They are looking good. OTH, it seemslike those dealers would be trying to sweep out those 7510's /7610's We will have to compare notes quite regular as we zero in on our prey. Sounds like you will be doing some of the same stuff as me.

This Kioti is an interesting tractor also. I've read some of the debates and pros and cons regarding weight of tractors but when it comes to moving God's Green earth bigger/heavier must be better. In my area, the dealer has proven very competitve when it comes to the BX. The larger tractors and New Holland's are somewhat of a different matter. That's where the Kioti guy can excel I hope/expect.

I appreciate that you pointed out the attachment glitch for the BX. I suppose Kubota can claim the market for attachments when marketing their popular BX line if they engineer in some differences like that. However, what can be expected since it is smaller. It certainly adds to the price (bx snowblower $3200).

I've also been looking at trailers. But first I got secure the cargo for any trailer. Something to do. Did you need/have one for your BX?

Rim, The BX22 that I had was the first model of that series, and several changes have been made since. On mine, for example, when you removed the loader, the control pedestal for the front hydraulics went with it. To use a front mounted snowblower, or blade, one had to take the pedestal from the loader, and mount it back on the tractor..... a greasy, and awkward operation on my less coordinated days. You don't have to buy Kubota attachments except for things like the mid mounted mower, front blade, and snowblower. Most companies now sell the smaller size made for all the brands of sub cuts, NH, Massey, JD, and Kubota. Woods, KK, Farm Force, Landpride, etc all have a compact size that work. Many folks run the full size Cat 1 implements on the BX series, and report no problems.

I never used my BX more than driving distance from my place, so I never had a trailer. The BX24 is surprisingly heavy.... close to 3000 lbs with the backhoe, and loaded tires though somewhat lighter than the CK20.

Around here, I have been quoted $12,900.00 for a Kioti CK20 gear with loader, or $12,895.00, and $13,300.00 for an old style Kubota B7510 hydro, or $14,300.00 for an old style B7610 (24hp). The last I heard ( the other day) local dealers don't expect a price increase with the new models, but I'm sure that discounts will be harder to come by. You didn't say if you were planning on doing any mowing, or not? There are front mounted snowblowers available for the CK20, but they are aftermarket, and not cheap. If you want to use front mounted attachments, or a mid mounted mower, the Kubota is better. The new models will weigh 5-600 lbs less than a Kioti. Either will work just fine for anything rear mounted, though the wider you go, the more important hp becomes. I have watched a guy using a 5' box blade on a Kioti CK20 though, and the tractor showed no signs of strain at all. That weight helps in that case!

I like the Kioti CK20, but don't feel the local one man dealership is doing what he can on price, and I'm a little worried about what will happen to the dealership when he retires. There is a bigger dealership across the state that guys have had good luck with, so I may drive over there, and check it out. In New Hampshire driving across the state isn't much of a deal! :D

BTW, another thread stated that Kubota dealers should be getting the new catalogs this week, or next.

I had the KB2365 "traditional" BH on my CK20 and liked it. When I moved up to the DK I bought a Woods BH90x which I also like. Both have separate seats. If you prefer the shorter stance of a BH that shares the tractor main seat such as on the BX23/24 then the new B's appear to have that feature from what I've read. I don't see it as a critical point myself as you need to get off the seat and move anyway. The suspension main seat would trump the convertible seat for me.

===============

Great Post, Chuck,

I won't be needing to do any mowing with this tractor. I have a 17 h.p. White yard tractor plus that John Deere walk behind. So mowing is out. My yard that i have to mow is small anyway but I have plenty of black top drive and even more gravel out at my place on the lake.

Snow removal is another matter. We get plenty of that and right now we have about 1 1/2 to 2 feet of well settled dry snow on the level. For that I have a 13 hp White snowblower with 33" bite. I don't know what I will do until I actually get the tractor. A blower should work best as I don't have a lot of room to pile snow. The kubota dealer said not to hold him to it but he suspected a blower for a BX24 should be around $3200 for a front unit with hydraulics and electric to deflect and rotate the chute. Anyway, i won' worry about it initially until I get a machine. Matter of fact, If I do get the tractor, I'll spend the rest of Winter playing in the snow with the FEL. So summing my quotes up I can have a brand new BX24 delivered to my door for $14900 which from what I have learned is a fantastic deal. The CK20S HST is $17250 brand new, new S style and enhanced 22 h.p.engine and new style FEL + curved boom backhoe. A CK20S gear would be $1000 less than the CK20 w/HST. I figure if I get one of these,it's just gotta be HST. The Kioti dealer is 230 miles away but will house call the tractor for the period of warranty should something fail.

I really should take he darn BX24 but covet the more powerful CK20 which the salesman will bring up to his house and I said I would like to demo it so I will drive to his second home located 30 miles away. His permanent place and location of his business is 200 miles away.

I keep repeating myself but this has been a long thread. I have enjoyed chatting with you nd appreciate your helpful information. Think I shall watch Green Bay whack N.y. Have a great Sunnday.

I went through this same decision a few months back and ended up with the BX24. I really, really liked the Ck20. However, I had the same concerns as you, resale value. The BX offers many more attachments. The lack of an OEM front blade for plowing and the fact that you can't have the mower deck on if the backhoe is on killed the deal for Kioti. Not that you would cut with the backhoe on, just nice to have everything on at once. Those were the main reasons I went with the BX. Dealers were both great.
Now that I have a whopping 15 hours on the seat of my BX24, I can say that it is the perfect size for my property, 1 1/2 acres. Very happy with it.

The reason I chose the BX23 over a larger tractor is because I didn't/don't need/want a bigger tractor.
Turns out instead of bigger I needed / wanted something smaller to go with the BX23 so I got a couple of Kubota BX1500s.

I'd much prefer having my 3 Kubotas over owning just 1 larger tractor.

LB, you may be the only person on this planet or any other with that unique perspective.

I don't think that is particularly relevant here anyway as rimshot is only interested in one.

Those Kioti, and BX prices are great Rim! I was told $17,500 for a left over CK20 gear with the older style backhoe. I might be able to get a BX24 here for $15,900, but my guess is that it would be over 16k. I think if I could get those Kioti prices with good support that I would go that route.

Islandtractor, I don't mind the separate seat at all. In fact after being off, and on my BX so much, and having to always turn the seat, I think I might prefer the separate seats. On my rocky, and rutted woodland trails, etc. I am more concerned about the low ground clearance with the Kioti subframe, and the extra storage space that would require. You are right though, a Woods 7 ft hoe would probably go on there well, and give me the 4pt mount that I like for installation, and storage, as well as more clearance. How did you find mounting, and dismounting the Kioti subframe to be compared to the Woods hoe you are using now?

IslandTractor, ooch Giants just scored ahead by 3 but the pack is coming back,

Dave, I'm in your corner.

Chuck, I have lot's of rocks sticking out of the ground also but for me I still won't rule out the BX. Not quite yet anyway. First time through i'll just have to reach in there and lead the way with the backhoe I guess. My Kioti dealer is a real nice guy (as is the local kubota guy) currently in Cancun but would love to sell another at my price I'm sure and you don't have to pay the tax out here being your out of state. Not sure how you handle it out there.
