Someone mentioned in an earlier thread that a backhoe for a B model was 3-4 thousand to add on. Those backhoes are more like $6500 to add. That jacks the price way up for those tractors. For all that extra money you can purchase many many many attachments to use with your BX. Money is always a factor. You will get more bang for the buck with the BX. The B model will not make that much difference. Buy less tractor and more attachments.

I think they were comparing the cost of the BX 25 and a 2320 with a backhoe not the add on price of a BH to a 2320.

Thanks for all the input.
JohnThomas, I appreciate your input on large tractors or ones with BH more tippy due to higher center of gravity. I had not really thought about that. Nice to hear you get a lot of use out of the BH, as I have decided that I need one no matter what tractor I decide on. I am backtracking on my thinking I need the B's higher ground clearance. I don't have any high plowed furrows or big rocks that I can't drive around, so probably don't need 12" of ground clearance.

BX25Bota4me, you are correct the B model is $6000 or $7000 more expensive. I plan to look at a B2320 with a backhoe tomorrow. I go back and forth. After reviewing all the related postings I can find, I think I would be happy with a BX25. With the $7000 I have left over, after buying a BX instead of a B, I can buy a nice trailer to haul it, a thumb and a box blade implement. I would still have several thousand dollars left over. Just about talked myself into a BX. lol

I appreciate all the input. I hate to spend the extra $7000 for a B series with a BH over a BX25 with a BH. After reviewing all the input/advice I am thinking I probably don't need to move up to the B size tractor.

I will post what I finally get and a short review of it. I got at least until the end of the year to make up my mind and still get 0% financing - right?

I've had several BX's and now the BX25 with the BH. Yes it can be a little more tippy but don't forget, with the BH on, you can rotate the hoe to the uphill side when needed, or even drop the stabilizers down to a foot or so off the ground. I take mine in the woods a lot to retrieve firewood. I do have to plan my routes to avoid large rocks or shrubs, but it has always gotten me to where I need to go and back. BUT, you will need skid plates for protection so factor that cost in. Bro Tek sells them and I believe BXpanded has one now or will shortly. Well worth the investment for non-lawn duty.

I don't know how high in the mountains you are but don't for get the higher you go the more horsepower you loose because of the air. You may may want to look at the B2920 or B3300.

Tractordawg, that is an excellent point. My cabin is at 7700' and the 2 acres I own are at 8600'. I need to find a chart of hp vs altitude or BP.
Thanks

Yeah, that is one of my concerns. My cabin is at 7700' and the 2 acres I own are at 8600'. I need to look at a chart to see how much hp I lose.

Later: Looks like I will lose 25-27% hp at those altitudes.

George, I would have to agree with Kuboman, the 3300SU is the best all round tractor for what you seem to describe. I own a 2011 3300SU with BH, Box Blade, Forks, and PH digger and if it were legal I would marry my tractor, its the best purchase I have ever done. This mid size Kubota impresses me every time I use it. The BH is amazing and have used mine to uproot 2 and 3 foot wide pine trees at the roots with very little effort. I do however do not have the snowblower, but rest assured I will for this winter. The aux hyd are there for the snowblower but though I would not need to have a snow blower, well I was wrong, the small front bucket is fine for a couple of inches but when there is 6 or more inches it take several passes to complete the job. Better to have extra power then not have enough to get through the ruff stuff. I believe you would fall short with the BH series simply due to size and power limitations for what you want. Best of luck with your decision. Mike
