Chipper hookup to tractor hydraulics

Do you mean the fitting circled in white?
How does it simplify hook up? excuse my ignorance.
Pink goes there?
Yes, that should be a non-restrictive return to the tractor. That fluid doesn't have to return through the hydraulic valve and it's small orifices.
Then because it is your return you are left with a single pressure hose to connect, it can go to any of your remotes, it doesn't mater which one. When you activate your remote one way is not going to do anything and the other way will provide fluid flow. It eliminated the possibility of reverse flow to your chipper as either one will work.

If that fitting circled in white is indeed a port on the tractor that goes into the sump, then that IS a better way to hook up the return line. I would do it that way. I wish my tractor had an easy return port like this. Some machines have them and some don't.

Good suggestion, Lou.

Now on to operation. I am familiar in general with chipping, but tractors and hydraulics are new to me.

I think I'm fairly clear now with the feed mechanism. I start the tractor and activate the roller by tying lever in the forward position.

Unfamiliar with PTO. I have dual clutch and 540/1000 pto.
How should I engage the tractor pto to the chipper?
What Rpm should the tractor be at.
Do I release the clutch slowly?
Is the PTO shaft connected right?
Protector chain ok?

Start tractor. Set engine speed control to idle. If you have a foot clutch, press it. Then shift PTO selector to 540. Then release clutch slowly. Increase speed after engaged to 540 PTO speed, often noted on tachometer.

Can't say by looking if the PTO driveshaft is properly locked onto each splined shaft. You can tell. The plastic idiot shield is supposed to stay stationary with the chain they give you, properly attached. It will wear out eventually.

Upsss, must have done something wrong.
Now I have 2 three point hitch controls.
Remote connected to chipper rises and lowers the TPH

Wondering if that single quick disconnect that we thought is a direct tank port is in fact a single acting port meant to feed, for instance, a dump trailer. It's also a somewhat common thing to do.

I would change that line back to the remotes and give it a try.
