Creating my "Over the Top" Deer Blind

Eddie
I've read this thread with interest and have been waiting with great anticipation to see the end product. You do not disappoint. You hit it dead on the mark. You have built your deer stand to add to the natural beauty of the area without overpowering or detracting from it. It is very well done. Hope you get a chance to relax a little and enjoy it.:D

As usual, you put the rest of us to shame. Beautiful!

Eddie, if that ain't cool, it is right next to it.:) Be sure and tell us what Peyton thinks of "his" fort and sign.

BTW: In one of the pictures from the ground, I noticed that you could see thru the facing window all the way thru the window on the opposite side. That means wildlife will be able to see a moving silhouette between the windows. Do you have any plans for putting dark shades or opaque curtains on the windows? It might make the occupants of the blind much less visible.

Eddie,

Perfect point Jim made, On my smallish, hunting blind I've got 3 windows and one door to get in. I can literally make face at the oncoming deer or turkey and they would not be able to tell. If I lift the exterior window cover on the opposite side and they pick up my motion in split second. You'll have less of the problem as you sit quite high in comparison to my 7 feet off of the ground.

Brian,

Yes, the view of Lake Marabou is only partial for right now, but it will be getting better as I clear that area for a road and RV Sites. We've seen deer walking on the dam from the blind, but so far, no hogs.

Thank you,
Eddie

Eddie, have you tried hunting out of your blind yet? I bought the posts and floor joist today and will start my tower the next dry day. I am trying to figure out how I want to build it and have a good idea the design but am trying to decide on the window sill height. Do you wish you would have done anything different with yours stand? How do you like the 3' sill height? I plan to just stand up the walls and put the roof on and stick the windows in this year and try it over the hunting season then make any changes before I finish off the exterior and interior but hope to make it close to perfect from the start.
