I was testing my decom CGM's when I first started using them, but quit. One time I adjust it up a few points, next time if would be down a few points. So what was the point? Its plenty accurate enough.

labs this week came back with glucose at 85 and AIC unchanged at 6.1
and this was with me forgetting to fast and eating a yogurt that morning, oops.
all my other labs reasonably in range
realistically I'm 30 pounds overweight and that we all know creates its own problems.
I'd like to get out of the yellow range on AIC
I have to take medically prescribed steroids every day and endocrinologist said no way was I losing
weight taking that stuff.
I can use that as an excuse or...I can try to walk more.
unfortunately having real hip and back problems and walking any distance simply hurts.

so if I can't burn it off well enough, really need to eat less.

Daugen I was/am in your situation almost exactly. My hips get sore enough that I quit walking so save myself for work as I need to earn a living too.

This summer I went and helped a friend build a deck above his boat lift. It involved a lot of climbing scaffolds and stairs as his house is about 30 feet above water level. I was very sore for a few days and then the arthritis in my hips started hurting less. By the end of 12 days I weighed 6 lbs less and hurt considerably less. It's fall and I'm still enjoying those benefits.

Overall in the last 4 years I've lost approximately 25 lbs just by eating less. I really haven't made any other changes. I do weigh myself every morning just to keep track of which way the scale is going.

I aim to keep myself within a range of weight rather than see the scale drop a little every day. The range will be stagnant for several months and then all of a sudden I'm down another 5 lbs. I'm happy with that. I didn't gain the weight all at once and I'm not going to loose it all at once. I've been there and then seem to gain it back+ very quickly.

Good luck in loosing weight!!

When I worked at the hospital our dietician had several diabetes support group meetings. They were free and had good information. Often one of the doctors would give a presentation and answer questions. The dietician helped with nutrition plans. If your insurance covers counseling sessions with a dietician I highly recommend it. It may take a referral from your PCP.

Ive been using chat gpt to meal plan to hit my macros and calorie counts this past week. To have a balanced diet, well, most people are on high fat and high carb diets, let me put it that way.

I eat less and feel full, because my macros are balanced. It's easy to over eat crap, because crap doesn't trigger your body to feel full. I'm 145 pounds, but in the winter I get a lot less activity, so what I eat and how much I eat, matters a lot more.

I had some tires replaced yesterday, and this lady walked into the shop, a husky girl, young... With a large soda, fried nuggets from chik fil a and dipping sauce. In my mind I thought, there is almost no possible way to get your diet to balance the rest of the day, after eating that... And some people will eat like that TWICE per day. In the US especially, we have been slowly lulled to sleep, and consume crap, consistently, without a second thought. Even the things we "think" are healthy, are crap.

As of this past Friday my A1C is down .4 and my weight down 20#'s. For the past several months I've been good, I reduced my intake and increased my exercise. Having a new rescue dog keeps me moving.
