That is a good deal IMO, even though it is a 78" unit. Manual ripper bar is nice, you don't need an extra set of rear remotes.

Would it be relatively easy to convert a lever operated rippers to hydraulic?

I believe that the phrase "relatively easy" is relative. For some people that have the know how and equipment, it would BE EASY. For others, maybe not so much. ;)

Well did you check into it?

Yes , on the phone the seller admits he had no callers on his ad. He is willing to accept 500 but he has no way to loade it in my truck.

Landscape trailer with loading gate, pipe bar, two grown men, and maybe a comealong or even ratchet straps.

See if he has any neighbors with tractor and FEL. Offer them $50 for 10 minutes of work.

Good luck!

He is going to have a tough time selling it then.

Get a rollback to go pick it up for you.

I agree, rent one of these, take some sort of devise to pull it on the trailer and you would be home with a GREAT deal and an even better box blade. I have found that good deals usually are not easy, thus are available and good deals. ;)

I like the rollback idea as they usually have an electric winch. But they are not cheap. You ought to be able to get a further discount due to this.

If for some reason you cant get trailer and a second healthy helper, take a pick up, farm jack, and plently of dunage/wood blocks/concrete blocks and a couple stout levers. It might take an hour or two, but with a big enough lever you can move the world. Then back the truck under one end. Dont try to only jack one side; lift, block, then lift and block other side, ect, ect till about 3-6" higher then tail gate.

In my area you could get it done for $50. You could barely rent a trailer for that.

In my area equipment rental places are the only ones that have trailers that will carry a CUT. A 10k, 16' trailer is $100 per day and that is only if the equipment for its use is not rented. And they will not take reservations. First come first served- if available.

And a roll back for my 7500# tractor with grapple bucket and 710# ROBB is $165 for a 35 mile trip. I need to use one at the end of December to get my tractor from my current home to my property where I will be clearing a home site.

Tell the guy that owns it to figure out a way to get it into your truck and you will take it.

When my L4240 was delivered it cost $125 and that was about 50 miles.

My delivery was ~ $250 for 120 miles, one way this summer.

My thoughts exactly. I would have to want something very badly to travel this distance and not be able to load it into my vehicle or trailer. The seller should have figured this point out in advance.

   / DK40 Box Blade size? 72"? 78"? 84"? #58
If he had that figured out he'd probably want more than 500 for it.

Exactly, that is why it is only $500. :duh: Bring your own way to move it sort of thing. Cuts down on who can get it, but the owner does not have to consider what the loading expense and or inconvenience is to him. Because it is not, that is the purchasers problem, but is getting a good deal on the implement.

If the owner went to the trouble of being able to load, then he would have to sell it for more $$$ than what he is asking. Just one of those things, either you want it or you don't, it costs money either way. Either you pay him or pay someone else or have already paid for the equipment that you have to be able to do these things. But in the end, it ALL costs someone, somewhere some money. ;)

He was asking 700.00. And I don't have to have it either.
