Generac Generator LPG or Natural Gas Fuel Consumption at Low Loads

/ Generac Generator LPG or Natural Gas Fuel Consumption at Low Loads #11
We have the 26kw Generac Home GenSet, with a 500 gal Propane Tank as well. I don't have a flow meter, and can only go by what we get refilled when the propane truck comes.

When we built our house, we went above board with the electrical plan. Ours is a modest 2700 square ft ranch style (single story) home, 3 bedrooms, 3 baths. We have it partitioned where we can select what we need for power. We have a Propane on demand water heater, and a propane range / oven.

In case of a long term storm, power outage, I can partition things to only run essential things. We also have Solar panels, battery bank and a large power inverter. I also have a portable dual fuel inverter genset just in case.
Can your genset directly charge your battery bank?
If and when I set up a backup generator, the plan is for the battery bank to be charged by the generator, and the house runs from the batteries - that way the generator only needs to run for battery recharges, and so assuming the generator size is chosen appropriately it should be running at a pretty fuel-optimal rate and only for parts of the day (assuming an extended bad-weather outage, like, winter - summertime the solar keeps up if the A/C isn't used, and in a disaster/long-term power fail you just deal with the heat).

That is how I have it configured. The Genset can charge the battery bank. Now my inverter is wired to just cover the appliances that need AC voltage. Most of my stuff is propane... but, I have a few deep freezers and three refrigerators. Those are wired to draw from the inverter if needed. I spent a little bit of money to make this happen, and HOPEFULLY it will work as planned if it gets to that. The few outages I've had, my Generac has covered beautifully.
