Generator Transfer Switch Question

Is there any safety concerns between an interlock kit and a transfer switch with separate panel? The generator company I'm considering buying a generator from frowns on the interlock kit. Says the generator will be sharing the same neutral bond and they won't sell and interlock kit. I'm trying to make an informed decision so I can get the ball rolling on my set up.

I vote for a manual transfer switch. If your talking to a generator company and not home depot, then you are a candidate for a real transfer switch either auto or manual...

I think a lot of the older units had neither a breaker or reset switch. My mid to late 80's 5KW Coleman Powermate had nothing but 4 receptacles rated for 20 amps, 2 for 120V and 2 for 240 volts.

OHH. My Coleman, i think genny is from the 00's. I ahve a reset, i beleive?

When installing a transfer switch the neutral dosn't get switched they are all terminated in the same location.. I install alot of these and don't see the problem with an interlock but do prefer the transfer switch.. Mine is automatic for my wife if i'm not home I want her protected...

Looked mine has little push button reset or breakers it has 2 of them. All i have is 2, 120 normal plug outlets and one 30amp 240 outlet. the resets are on each side of the normal plugs. I was looking at it last night (ordering a puchrod for it) and its got 2006 model year air requirement stuff on it so i guess that puts it in early to mid 00's, i guess they meet future requirements? I know it was not purchased in 06 or later, i remember the father in law having it before that.
