I was talking with a large upper midwest dealer the other day and asked him about this subject. He chuckled and told that 110's sat on the lot for way too long and that the housing contractors were buying them like hot cakes before the econo bust. But they haven't been able to give them away since. I believe this dealer has 10 stores in there market and this is the scenario at all of there dealerships. It seems to me that they could have tried to improve the product(like offering a cab maybe) to broaden the potential buyers. The 4000 are a great line but loader/hoe wise don't compare with the 110 and any attempts by Deere to claim otherwise are silly.

Matt,
Might be a good deal for a 110 in there for you.

I've been thinking that also. But if something better comes to market I'll be kicking myself. Plus I just picked up a 4in1 bucket for my 3320. We'll see what the next few months bring. You never know.

Matt,

Wouldn't be that hard to convert the 4n1 to SS attachment...

Other than the hood and additional hydraulics everything else was essentially a 4610.

Thats interesting. I was always under the impression that it was more Yanmar than that. Do you know the root cause of all the transmission problems in the early models? Kinda odd considering it was existing equipment.

What more Yanmar did you think was in it? Sauer-Danfoss made (and continues to make) the eHydro transmissions. Yes, as many know there were some tranny issues at the beginning, but that was across all the mid and large frame 4000's, including the 110TLB - and it was definitely a Sauer-Danfoss issue, not Deere's. The small frame 4000's (4010,4110 etc) were the predecessors to the 2000 series and were pretty much complete Yanmar units and did not have the eHydro tramsmissions at all.

True ak but it's a 60" bucket and this is one of the main holdbacks for me. With all the money I have in attachment for the mid size chassis it doesn't make much sense to start over with large ones for the larger frame(especially since the 3320 does 99.9% of what I need). The 3000 series get into pretty tight spots yet still have class leading capacitys. That mainly why I didn't go 4000/110 to start. But if the right deal came along I don't think I could say no.

Previous rumors had it that Deere was in R&D for a dedicated, hard mount loader for the current 4x20 series, with the additional pump, etc added to the chassis while utilizing the existing 110TLB backhoe attachment. This would allow quite a bit of commonality with the current 4x20 lineup, while retaining the uniqueness of the 110TLB - ie Removeable Construction Grade Backhoe, hard mount dedicated Construction Grade Loader with the upgrades of the Deere turbo-charged engine and so on and so forth.

If that were to come to fruition, I'll be trading my 3520 in on a cabbed 4x20 "Construction" model in a heartbeat...assuming i could get it less hoe...I'd LOVE a Cabbed 4x20, Fixed Loader w/Ample Hydraulics....

Rereading the entire thread, makes me wish I could buy another new 110 to have in reserve, dang money always in the way.
