Hoping someone can provide some options here.

I have a Kubota BX2670.

I have a rear blade RB05 and have just purchased a PTO generator with a three point hitch.

In the winter I will leave the blade on... but if power goes out.... I would like to be able to change it over to the generator.

What would my options be and what would you recommend?

Thanks

Extendable end links are the best thing since sliced bread.

Pretty simple to swap one implement for another with a three point hitch, that's what it's designed for. Biggest headache I have is attaching the PTO shaft to the tractor, small space and sometimes awkward pulls and push coupler design.

The blade is a bit heavy to move around for the wife.. I'm trying to figure out if there is an easier system to use, but wasn't sure.

You sound like a good candidate for a quick hitch. There are countless threads on the subject.

There are numerous threads from members who have built dollies to facilitate attaching/removing 3PH implements.
Steve

I tried some, but they didn't help much, if any.

Quick Hitch will help. If you store implements on a hard floor, a castored dolly for each implement will help.

HOWEVER, attaching the PTO shaft is usually harder than mounting the implement on the Three Point Hitch and the Quick Hitch will not help. Having an implement on a castored dolly may help some, attaching the PTO shaft.

Check that friction between the inner/outer PTO safety shrouds is not a problem, inhibiting lengthening of the PTO shaft. If it is, shorten the inner shroud with a hacksaw, then lube inner shroud with spray silicone or spray Eureka Fluid Film, where inner and outer shrouds overlap.

Good luck.

LOL. Good stuff.I saw that Dolly is still touring as she was in Deadwood recently.

Sounds like a dolly for the PTO generator and the box blade might work great.

Yes. I'm think that it may work out well. I'll head to princess auto and see what I can come up with. The quick hitch looked good, but its a heck of a lot more expensive.

Personally, I'd be inclined to bolt the generator to a heavy pallet (or Dolly) and then buy an extra long PTO shaft. When I needed the generator, I'd lift the back blade all the way, put a block under it, and run the Genny with the long shaft under the blade.

I'd love to able to keep both on.. but I don't think I would have the room. I only have a little kubota BX

Although 2 dollies like Parton would be a nice addition to my work area upkeep is expensive.
For the OP I suggest getting a pallet to set the equipment on and a couple of Harbor Freight's

dollies for rolling things around.

I've two under my 5' box blade, 4 under my Jinma 8" chipper. Those and a set of Pat's Easy Change make positioning and hitching rather easy.

I wait and get the HF dollies on sale for about $7, and with 5,000 square feet of concrete in my workshops they are well worth the $7.

Mate, if you want help with setting up your tractor for multiple attachments... get a quick hitch. They are not that expensive when, after fitting bushings to your various 3ph implements, you simply have to back up to what you want to attach and lift. Even if your implement is sitting outside on the ground. [Note: struggling/cursing-a-blue-streak whilst attaching to the PTO is a different thing!]

Having all of your implements/attachments on wheeled-pallets or dollies works great for positioning prior to attaching... but only if you have a flat surface to wheel them around on.

Interesting play on words with dollies/dollys/doilies.

I use a quick hitch because I don't have a cement pad to drop my equipment onto. Besides I sometimes take more than one piece of equipment to a job and then dollies are useless. A quick hitch with a hydraulic top link and you can quickly drop and pick up most attachments.

A quick hitch with a hydraulic top link is cheaper than a cement floor.

I too find pto's to be hard to attach. On my 660 rototiller I took the pto end apart and replaced the spring inside with a lighter one. It's now considerably easier to hold back the collar and attach the pto shaft. My shoulder thanks me every time I hook it up.
